D&D 5E [OOC] Uller's Out of the Abyss

Only small difference I think there might be is that I thought I was prepping the upstairs crossbow while Orsik & Derendil were setting up the downstairs one. Not an important distinction unless things get really hairy and we need both.

Well if it isn't going to get hairy then it wont be fun right?

Okay...both are getting set up.

Got a bus trip tonight but should have time to post.

Okay folks...I've decided what is holding this game up is my overly long posts. I am going to endeavor to keep them shorter from now on...a couple paragraphs except for major scene changes and the like...I had 90% of the newest post typed up on Sunday and Monday evening but didn't finish it and that stopped me from posting it until tonight. I'd rather have just said a little about the monsters flying past you, the drow noticing you and roll init....I'll get better so we can get this game moving at a better pace. Thanks for the patience.

I think Erevan would run away from overwhelming odds (i.e. the drow coming for them) but that is not a very tactical thing to do. So I'm rather unsure what to do. Any suggestions?

My plan, and this is just something on the fly because there is almost NO way (unless I am missing something) to get in the priestess' tower other than the door, is to draw one of the bird things down and slide past the drow to cause them to have to either pay attention to me or the thing and slip into the tower.

Ezraen's thought is that if he can grab the spellcasting foci and escape without dying, we can jump off the waterfall.

JustinCase I'd say do what seems most fun. If Erevan would run from the drow that's fine but maybe the paladin's courage would inspire him...or maybe not. Not trying to sway you one way or the other.

DMAesh To get a monsters attention and influence it to attack someone else could be a persuasion or deception check depending on how you do it.

Edit: it could backfire and make it attack you. Don't forget the doors bar from the inside. Edit2: And you can drop the bridge from the inside even with the door closed.

I believe that I have neither of those skills, which would make it a straight Charisma check. Okay, here is where I am coming from. I was thinking that Ilvarra might be arrogant enough to leave it unbarred. Based on everything that we have seen of Ivlarra so far, would there be any inkling that she would be cowardly enough to barricade herself in her tower while everyone else fends off these creatures?

From what you have seen of Ilvara she places her reputation as a powerful and favored servant of Lloth above all else. She likely will fight to defend her post. The fact that most of the drow are not in or near the tower tells you she is most likely not there. Even when away the tower door is rarely locked.
