D&D 5E (2014) [OOC] Uller's Out of the Abyss

Ok, I am also fine with trying that, but if they attack again, we will have to fight. We run the risk of losing them. :( (Either to death or if they run off and get lost.)

Well they're back to gnomes now, so I don't think they'll attack right away. More likely they might run off. But who knows.

So if I understand correctly, the plan is now: untie them, have Ez do LoH (in that order--let's not have them wake up tied up), try to talk them into staying with the group, then all go back to the main party together and keep this a secret.

They ran off before transforming, so they know vaguely when it's coming. Maybe we can just ask them to quietly let the three of us know when it's coming so we can go with them to deal with it, or otherwise accommodate them.

DMAesh, I think this is your IC post to make since you'll be doing both the healing and persuasion roll. Just please be sure to untie them before you heal. I'm afraid they'll think we view them as monsters to fight, not friends to protect, if they wake up bound.

Hold off on the IC posts until I can update you on what the gnomes are saying about all of this. I'm on the road right now so it might be a while.

Crap, ok. I thought they were maybe able to mumble a word or two now and then with minimal awareness, if that. If I'd had any idea they were cognizant of the situation, I'd never have tied them up.

Actually, Uller, before the gnomes say anything--can we have a chance at changing our post-fight actions? I don't know about DMAesh and JustinCase, but I was basing everything I did on the assumption that they were unconscious, or perhaps vanishingly lucid for brief moments--certainly not enough to have any opinions on the situation. If I'd had any idea they were awake/aware (and therefore in pain), I never would've made the case for tying them up. They should've just been healed if they were mentally present. I feel like a huge jerk.

I agree with Surana. I think that if they are semi-conscious, I would have preferred to tried to glean what we can from them before we make our final decision.

Gleaning info would be good, but my point was really that it seems incredibly cruel to not only leave someone awake while beaten almost to death, but to then tie them up too. That's some villain stuff. I just want them healed as soon as they've transformed back to gnomes. I have no intention of asking them anything while they're laying there all bloody. Heal first, then talk. Even if that means they just jump up and run off, I'd prefer that to them being awake and in pain while their supposed friends question them or tie them up. I mean, damn.

Ezraen's first concern is Surana and Erevan's safety first, then Topsy and Turvy's. If there is a way to find out if they will be a threat before we tie them up, then great, he would do that. That is my point. However he IS still concerned for the young Svirfneblin, and so if there is the chance that we can heal them and they won't turn back into murderous little monsters, then he wants to take that chance. It may even come down to him praying to Lathander for guidance. :)

Eh, I'm not worried about them immediately re-transforming. Seems more like something that builds and builds before taking over...I'd wager they're safe, at least for now.

But there's an easy way to find out quickly, no questioning required: LoH one of them for just a few hp. If they re-transform, all it would take is one thwack with a goblet to take care of it. If not, we're free to relieve the poor little things.

How much time has passed since their first transformation? If the night (abovegrounds) is still going, are they safe from re-transforming into were-creatures or not? I'd say that is a pretty important aspect of our decision.

And seriously, I don't really think tying them up is somehow a villainous act, because really, they just attacked us and we want to prevent that from happening again. If they are non-hostile when healed, we can untie them.

The idea of healing one of them a little to see what happens, answers those questions soon enough. I'd say, go for it.
