My son has taken one from 3rd to 12th level. Sometimes the class is not that effective in combat compared to a fighter or barbarian (particularly against large groups of smaller critters). Sometimes it's ridiculous. The key seems to be that you can use smite after you make your attack roll. Get advantage to get more chances at crits. When you score a crit, use a smite.

A 1d8 weapon goes from 5-13 damage to 29-36 damage (using our modified crit rules) with a single second level slot. He's using a weapon that does 1d8 bludgeoning plus 1d8 thunder damage and has three 3rd level slots. He managed to use a third level slot and a second level slot on crits in the same fight a few sessions ago. That brings a fight to an end very quickly.

Yeah, that's what I noticed. As long as I don't forget my abilities. Advantage would be nice, but that is easier to get ad Oath of Vengeance. ;)

I decided rather than update the front page of the RG thread to just change it to link to the google doc. It looked like it got reverted back to before the big data loss and I never updated it anyway so obviously we aren't using it...

OOC: Yeah, I was thinking about Minor Illusion. It is problematic. I hadn't thought of Disguise Self, that is actually a pretty good idea! Some ropes for the others, and Disguise on Erevan. What say you, guys?

This is one of those "Yes but..." or "Yes and..." DM style moments. It's hard in this format...I didn't want to outline an entire plan for you. When a player has a good idea I try to help him or her realize how it can be accomplished within the rules and the capabilities of the PC.

And I appreciate it. I was trying to think of ways it was possible and this seemed somewhat plausible. I thought of the ropes but it seemed too obvious.
