OotS #460

Maybe she is actually jumping her alignment from Lawful Good to Chaotic Evil in one fell strike?

She used to obey the laws of her gods and her order. She fought evil, and she helped people in need (remember he dirt farmers?), so she was certainly lawful and good. (Even if in a pretty unpleasant and unlikeable way).

But know? She is making up the reasons why she is fighting - it's all in her twisted mind, and she ignores the things her superiors said to her -, and she is fighting against a group of good adventurers (-Belkar), and might unwittingly aid the enemy doing so. (Depends on what happens next).

On related news:
I wonder if she will get to the throne room and if we found out if there is some relationship between her and the Cloaked Figure.

Only in that the cloaked figure is the GHOST OF ROY'S DAD!!!! :)

Maybe Soon's Ghost is able to set her right again, maybe Soon as the venerated founder of the Sapphire Guard is somebody who could get it through her thick skull she's fallen and has lost the path. . .but fighting against Xykon in Azure City's darkest hour, when almost the entire Sapphire Guard has fallen and even the ghost-martyrs are being destroyed, could be the path to redemption.

You can quote me on this: "Not a chance."

Look, we all know the Order of the Stick has to be in on the final "Save the World" fight with Xykon over the Gate. (Presumably at the last possible instant.) That's just a given. For those that doubt this, I direct your attention to the freakin' title of the Comic strip.

We also know that Roy is the core member of the OotS.

And finally, we know that Durkon doesn't have Raise Dead (today), and that Roy is currently being eaten by vultures. Roy's not around to lead the charge.

So: There ain't no way that anything happens today that stops Xykon. All the peices aren't in play yet. It just can't happen. So whatever Miko does, it won't be defeating Xykon or defending the gate.

There's a bajillion hobgoblin corpses in large mounds. There's a smaller, but still large, number of human corpses. And still, vultures go for Roy's body.

Definitely it's not Roy's day.

Ah, so it is that Miko has definitely had her psychotic break. (Isn't there a fancy name for the psychological condition where one fanatically thinks that everything one does must be the will of God? I thought there was, but I can't remember the name.)

I dunno; I can see her running into a room full of paladin ghosts, including Soon, and immediately employing her vast skill in Jump (to Conclusions) to conclude that the "undead" paladins must be evil (they're using some magic to hide from her ability to detect evil, of course), and must be destroyed. Maybe the entirety of the Sapphire Guard was in fact an evil plot, and the gods have chosen to reveal that to her as part of her very special destiny.
Yes, this occured to me as likely, too. Final nail in the coffin...

Pfff, you're thinking too linearly. Miko could finish off Xykon and become the BBEG for all we know.

Edit: Oh, but I should mention that I think "Miko destroys the throne" is the actual likely outcome of all this.
