Order of the Stick: How long will they put up with Miko?

Two wrongs don't make a right. Roy's treatment of her (pre- and post-op) is as wrong as her treatment of the OotS, and the end result is more bad feelings all the way around. I'm actually pretty disappointed in Roy for not taking the high road.

I agree with you on the pre-op issue, and judging by his speech in 250, so would Roy. On the post-op, we're of two minds. Miko is standing there berating and insulting them ... again... showing an attitude that she had exhibited before and was showing absolutly no signs of dropping. Ever.

She was in sore need of being brought back to reality. And there's a difference between walking the high road and just rolling over and taking it. Keep rolling over and taking it and she'll just keep on exactly as she has before, possibly getting worse, because the further she pushes the more she's convinced she's justified in pushing.

I just don't see it.

Roy apologizes for his previous sexist behavior. Point for Roy.

Miko then tells him that he's now "possibly" worthy of her.

He then tells her in no uncertain terms that he is no longer attractd to her. So he's honest, Another point for Roy. About the only "wrong" thing I see in Roy's response is the use of foul language. Which I persoanlly don't see as "wrong", but I can see how it could be offputting to some.

They pretended to be royalty, and the inn got blown up because of that.

Admittedly I am mostly skimming this thread but I have seen it consistantly said that they "pretended to be royalty" yet from my reading I am not 100% sure that Roy understood what was going on.

So much hate. Yeesh. It is a comic. Honestly, if Miko was a player, I'd be clapping. It takes guts to play that way, knowing the characters aren't going to like your character. It's not how you would play a paladin, but it is how that paladin is being played. Everybody has their level of overbearingness that they can take. I could tolerate her. I'd probably rail against her at moments, and join her at others.

But really I think people are being a little harsh here. I wouldn't run the player out of the game. And I wouldn't even call her overbearing. We all have different levels of overbearing that we consider tolerable.

Finally - Miko is a stereotype? Well ummm yeah. Pretty much all of OotS are. You have the evil party member, the 'leader', the guy who rolled a 6 on his int, the greedy thief, the scottish dwarf (ok slightly odd as he worships a Norse god), and the gay guy, err, girl, err, ummm, Elf. Heck. Maybe sometime soon they'll complete the set, the brooding loner, and the outcast drow with 2 blades.

Is Miko really that much worse than Piffany from Nodwick?

Worlds.

Though she's not without her faults either. Piffany is far less rude and offensive than Miko, but at the same time she's also quite an enabler. It actually wouldn't be too much of a stretch to put those two characters at opposite ends of a spectrum. Hard-nosed, inflexible Miko on one end, soft-handed lump of sugar Piffany on the other.

They got the brooding loner whispering outcast drow with 2 blades, Zz'dtri, in #44, as part of the Linear Guild, the OotS "evil twins", her being the counterpart to Varsuvius. She was hauled away by the lawyers in #65 after Varsuvius summoned them in a duel.

Oh, and Miko is annoying and condescending, Piffany is cute and happy. Given the two, I'd much rather be in a party with Piffany.

Based on how she was introduced, those two are Miko rolled into one. :)

Piffany's MUCH nicer. :)

OK, so how does Miko die?
Option 1: Seppuku
Option 2: Stabbity death from Belkar
Option 3: Left to fight a dragon on her own
Option 4: Used to find traps
Option 5: Crushed under Haley's loot

Apologies, apologies. I failed a bardic lore (OotS) check. I remember him now. Personally though, I'd rather have Miko's player in my group. Someone who is willing to play her character how she see's fit, not how others tell her to be.
