You don't have to be a spoiled sport you know the wings even spotted you a couple of games just to make it interesting.Know we just have to wait for L.A. and colorado to finish to see who the wings play next.

Oh and to all the Canadians who can only support canadian teams did you know that you can see canada from the Joe Loius Arena,And the people of Windsor are as devoted to them as those of us on the american side of the river.

Hey, you are ten times more than us.... then we must be ten times more partisans, and make ten times more noise... :D

And yes, Detroit is a real Hockey town. It's one of the Original 6. And they are many other great hockey city in the USA. But they are many that are not.

IMHO (I've finally figure what that mean :) ), if difference there is, it is that in addition to being partisans, the Canadians (the country, not the team :p ) fans are all impassioned by hockey.

When, oh when are people going to stop thinking the Devils are a good team. They spent six years playing the trap, anyone can win playing the trap. It's boring, stale, and is less fun than watching paint dry.

Brodeur is, at best, an above average goalie who plays behind the trap thus severely limiting the shots he gets peppered with. He is certainly not the "Goalie God" that many take him for. Scott Stevens is a cheapshot artist. That was adequately demonstrated yesterday when he began headhunting with his team on the verge.

Their first cup was half-a-cup or do we not remember the lockout of 95. Their second cup was by way of serious injuries to every other contending team in the East.

The trap does not a good team make.

Absolutely no arguement here Chairman Kaga. The Devils have always (well for the last 6-7 years) been the most boring team to watch. Their 'fake cup' win in 95 was a joke that everyone seemed to get except Devils fans.

I am so proud of Carolina for eliminating them this year as they so rightly deserved to be.

The small market teams in the NFL still aren't even close to competitive. When was the last time the Chiefs, the Bucs, or the Cards had a prayer in hell of reaching the Superbowl.

Have to disagree. Chronically bad teams like the Cards and Bengals are that way because of bad management (like the Flyers) and not because of any disadvantage. In fact it's only in the past few years the Chiefs have gone down hill (I suspect they'll get better soon), the Bucs would have been in the SB recently if they could have fielded a good offense and the Cards have one of the worst owners in the league.
Small market teams are at a disadvantage, but that doesn't prevent them from winning it all, it just makes it a little harder.
The Steelers have been one of the better teams in the league the past ten years and it's due to good drafting and player development, the lack of revenue compared to some teams prevents them from giving out large signing bonuses (the biggest difference between large and small revenue teams).
What the cap and revenue sharing have done is enforce parity/mediocrity and prevent dynasties.

Besides the NFL has turned into a league of hired mercenaries. There's no team loyalty.

Hasn't every sport?

I also agree New jersey is all over the place in the standing they go from winning the stanley cup to not even making the playoffs from one year to the next. They aslo tend to either win it all or get knocked out in the first round.

Stupid question from someone who's been watching hockey long enough that he should know:

What, technically, constitutes a trap defense? I mean, I know it has to do with not allowing the opponent to cross the neutral zone with the puck, and I know it results in (regular season) ties of 0-0. But what am I missing?

I must know!

In the trap they line the five guys up along the blue line and interfere (legally?) with skill players trying to get the puck into the opposing zone.It makes for very boring hockey, since it is the skill players fans come to watch.
