[OT] Hockey Fever: The NHL Playoffs Thread

And the team who play the trap does not try anything in attack. It waits only that the other team makes an error, to benefit from it. Really boring.

This time, I completly agree with you, Chairman_Kaga. Except that I consider that Martin Brodeur is an excellent goaltender. Not the best (it is in Montreal :D) but excellent.

The Neutral Zone trap is a 1-2-2 player forecheck. If you look at it when its being setup it looks like a pentagram. It takes away all the passing lanes.

All teams use the trap going into the third period if they're winning. Some teams just play it as their whole system, all game long, like Ottawa, New Jersey and Dallas who are all known for it. Minnesota uses it because they have to (they'd get blown out).

The trap was created by the Swedish to stifle the Russian tape-to-tape passing and attack.

Congratulations to Detroit for winning their series. The better team won. Of course they did have 7 players to five. The Canucks couldn't withstand Detroit's firepower, true, but the Draper double non-call (first hooking/grabbing Jovanovski and then running the goalie-which Bertuzzi got a penalty for in a previous game) is just infuriating to watch.

As for Chris Chelios, that guy's got zero class.

Thanks Grey One, Lady Dragon and skulrik. I am now enlightened.

Proof that the trap was created not by the Swedes, but by Satan himself! ;)

Well, I'll step up and take my medicine.

Congratulations to Quickbeam's Detroit Red wings on their victory over my beloved Vancouver Canucks.

They played well the entire series while the Canucks completely fell apart after game 2. They deserved to win and should be congratulated for doing so:)

Quickbeam, get in touch with me after the ENnie awards (after the entire list of entrants is known and I have had time to review the works) and pick any item you want. Ièll mail it to you postage due.

And again, congratulations to the Detroit Red Wings.

Chris Chelios *is* a no-class dink though:)

Hey now, quit harpin' on Chelly. Don't tell me you wouldn't want him on your team. He plays a tough game, but he's a good guy.

The real dinks are guys like Yashin, Roenick, Tkachuk and Bure. Those are the jerks away from the rink.

Did you happen to see Chelios do his little skate after he was picked a game star (with 4 assists)? What a deluxe knob (and a bitter pill to swallow).

sorry, t-bill. you know, i was watching game 3 and, as a more-or less objective observer, i knew that half-ice shot that cloutier let in was going to be the turning point of the series (if detroit hung on to win that game, which of course they did). sometimes you can just tell when that karma deserts one team. weird how one mistake can just totally rip confidence from one team and give it to another.

i will root now for anyone who doesn't play snoozey trap style. i just want to see some good games, preferably game 7's.

It's true we'd be cheering for Chellios if he was ours. After all, Tiger Williams is one of the most beloved Canucks in our entire team's history, and I can think of only one other Canuck who was ever less likely to win the Lady Byng.

Scott Bennie

Naw, I never cheered for Messier, when he came. Glad to see him go.

If Chelios came it would be the same. Don't have to worry about that though. He's such a mercenary bastard, Vancouver couldn't afford him.
