By "crash the net" I meant going to the goal hard. Bertuzzi, Keith Tkachuk and John LeClair (the current playoff series aside) are all excellent in this regard. It's an element that the Wings sorely lack, and I hope they manage to address this off-season.
Yeah, not too many guys witht he Wings who can go in front of the net and not have either Jovanovski, Ohlund or Bertuzzi himself hammer like a wrecking ball.
Chelly is good at taking the body when he feels like it, but Lidstrom is less aggressive. Don't get me wrong, Nicklas is perhaps the best all-around defenseman in the NHL...
For my money that's Rob Blake, but I digress....
...but checking is not his forte. For all their size and strength, Krupp and Fischer are less physical than Theo freaking-Fleury, and our other blueliners are marginal at best.
Playing the man may not always lead to big dollars, but it's still the best way to do your job on defense.
I agree, but keep in mind that these guys have, like, ten years to make their fortunes. I don't blame them for showboating. Makes you appreciate a guy like Chelios all the more though: he is the ultimate "stay at home" defenceman. Waht's he get in a season? like 5 goals, 10 assists and sits somewhere around +40 as far as +/- goes.
He contributes in a non-scoring capacity. it's what a defenceman should be doing.
You have a bet my friend. I will address the Wings attempts to purchase The Cup should they lose.
I should clairfy this one more time: You must address the Wings attempt to buy the cup negatively

I'm glad that you feel the officiating hasn't been biased against Vancouver, because I think Brian Burke's dog and pony show was totally transparent and contrived. Bad calls have gone both ways in this series, and you didn't hear Scotty Bowman crying to the media after losses in Games One and Two.
Don't misunderstand me...I don't think the officiating has been good. It hasn't. It's been awful. But it has (to my eye) benefited us about as often as it has harmed us. This is almost never the case. Vancouver is generally over-penalized. It's considered a joke here in Vancouver that referree Don Koharski is the visiting team's 6th man on the ice.
Burke's act will garner an extra call or two for the Canucks tonight, but I'm hoping our four goal first period will remove any element of suspense from the action.
I wish Vancouver would wake up and stop trying toplay the Wing's style of game. we should be hitting, hitting hitting.
If Detroit wins game 5, we should make damn[/i] sure they are in a world of pain for game six

So far we've faile to do that to Team Methuselah
