(OT) Star Trek Nemesis

I would love to see him, too. Loved the actor in Spenser: for hire. But if i remeber right, Sisko dies or something like that at end of DS9.

Sisko's in the wormhole, with the Prophets. He said he'd return, but didn't know when... maybe tomorrow, maybe yesterday (since time isn't linear to the Prophets).

Besides, such minor details don't seem important anymore, as they didn't explain Worf's or Wesley's presence in Nemesis.

Thanks for the update on Sisko. As for Worf and Wesley, I figured that Wesley was invited to the wedding and Worf was done at DS9 and what generations movie would be complete without Worf.

No problem. But, as pointed out in the other Star Trek X thread, the presence of Worf and Wesley are a bit problematic. Why isn't Worf an ambassador anymore? That's not so much problematic, as it is annoying that they couldn't spare 15 seconds or so to explain it. Wesley, though, is more problematic. He's not supposed to be a mere human anymore, and he definitely shouldn't be in a Starfleet uniform, seeing as he quit. Seeing how easily they ignored these issues in Nemesis, it would be just as easy to put Sisko back on screen.

That said, I was glad to see both Worf and Wesley. Reading what Wil Wheaton has been up to these days on his website, I definitely like him much more and am glad to see him on-screen.

On a personal note, I would like to see Sisko from DS9 as a Captain in the next movie, but then again DS9 is my favorite of all the shows (and I am sure I am in the minority here).

TOS is my favorite. But I agree that DS9 was a good show, and would like to see something from it eventually hit the big screen

What if they made their next movie not based on any of the tv shows and went with completely different people, and this crew was just for a few new movies? would that work?

Eric is right - the cast is not the problem. The TNG cast has done good work before. The problem is the terrible writing, which is now not only derivative crap, it's derivative of itself. Trek has now become so entrenched in its laziness that it can only rip off itself.

I think this is beacuse Trek doesn't need to be good. There are too many people who will eat up any garbage that has the Star Trek name on it, no matter how dreadful.

Five especially.

So what is this Picard Clone deal? How DID Picard's DNA get into Romulan hands?

*please spoil as I doubt I'll see this movie in theaters. The Two Towers, no need to spoil. Read the books and I know what happens. :) *

Why do they need blood for a clone? They have transporter/replacator patterns, which as been show a number of times in the producing of copies! In theory, you would just need matter/energy to build a clone army. :)

Just a little rant I have about ST. :)

Yes, but in "The Enemy Within," we learn what the negative consquences of duplicating people with the transporter are. :)

What I liked about this movie most, I think, was that the plot was driven around a philosophical idea, rather than just figuring out how to trick the Borg. It reminded me more of Star Trek and less of Star Wars.

That philosphical idea being "Let's just put out whatever bilge we can slap together - our faithful little fans wil just eat it up anyway."

Or did you get a different philosophical idea out of it?

;)
