Speaking from the perspective of someone who was one of the jerks for years...and is now trying to live that down and place it firmly in the past...

Don't be aggressive...just be yourself. There's a trick to being yourself though. You have to be yourself in such a way that she knows who you are.

I mean come on...you've lived to be what? 19 .. 24 .. 29? years old. You've met people before, so meeting a girl is nothing new. Stop trying to treat it like it's something new.

It's not about being aggressive, it's about being available as someone else put it...(and I mean this to be purely metaphorical, so get your minds out of the gutter!)...You can't score if you aren't playing in the game.

I am engaged now...and I have a beautiful daughter. And when she's much older ... I want her to meet a nice guy, not an aggressive guy, and not a guy like I was.

but certainly not universal. Not ONE man I have ever slept with, dated or had a serious interest in did I find attractive/want to sleep with within the first minute of knowing them. Or even the first day. Some I knew casually for upwards of a year before begining an 'interest'.

Then again, I don't think I'd ever look at it as "letting" a man sleep with me... Its either interactive and mutually wanted or not at all, baby.

Given that my girlfriend and I were about 6 years old when we first met, I can only assume that wasn't on her mind until many years later....

I find the "available, not aggressive" comments interesting. I was never into actively seeking companionship... we just started hanging around together a lot more in high school thanks to a few mutual friends, and a little over 3 years ago that somehow (I still don't know how ) became 'more than friends'. Funny how those things work.
