Parrying as a bonus to AC

Generally, they lag behind BAB. The very best dodge and parry progressions only keep pace with the Cleric's BAB, while the worst are slower even than the Wizard's (only going as high as +7 in their 20-level progressions).

Interestingly enough, each class also gets a Magic Attack Bonus progression, and magic attack rolls are subject to your Charisma modifier, rather than Dexterity.

Late addition to the thread: In the Conan RPG, characters also add their Reflex Save (base value) to their DV. So as you gain level, you get harder to hit in two ways: the DV progression and your Reflex Save progression.

It doesn't really bog the game down if you just roll the dice together. One d20 plus one d4 or whatever you use.

Ah, no, they don't.

Ref save bonus determines initiative, it has no effect whatsoever on defence.

I'm not even going to read this thread. "Parrying" is expressed via Combat Expertise and defensive fighting, no more or less. Yes, your attack rolls go down, but it's a fair trade-off, IMO. :)

Baronovan, a quick hint.

In the house rules forum it is considered quite rude to post something like this. If you are not even going to read the thread and clearly have no interest in helping DanMcS work out something suitable for his house rules, just don't post.

If you have a problem with this, please drop me an email (you'll find my address in the meta forum)

Thanks
