Pathfinder 1E [PF] Monk n' Match

marcielle

First Post
Hihi. Joining my first PF game and decided to give the monk another chance. I've decided to go crazy with the archetypes for the sheer cool-factor.
The rest of party is Ranged Rogue, Ranged Ranger, Druid, Cleric and Sorc. Now I know what the initial impression is but the DM has stated that he intends to weight the WBC in accordance to Tier. Also, he has mentioned that optimization levels are pretty low.

Stat rolls went pretty well: Str-19,Con-17,Dex-15,Wis-14,Int-13,Cha-12

Archtypes: Qinggong, Master of Many Styles, Monk Vows and Hungry Ghost.
Human
Feats:
1 Dragon Style, Weapon Focus (unarmed strike), Open
2 Dragon Ferocity
3 Open
5 Tiger Style
6 Tiger Claws
7 Elemental Fist
9 Shaitan Style
10 Shaitan Earthblast
Vows: Fasting, Chains, Truth, Silence

Qinggong Tradeouts: High jump, Wholeness of Body
For: Scorching Ray(bye-bye shurikens), Gaseous Form

Havent really thought about it after this but the campaign is unlikely to progress much further anyway.

Also, is it possible to combine Elemental with the effects of Tiger Claws and Dragons for:
2d8+Str(normal meelee attack)+1.5 STR(Dragon Style)+0.5STR(D.Ferocity)+2d6(elemental Fist)
I don't think theres anything that says you can't but I'd rather be sure.

What I always suggest and what may or may not be torn down.

Str 17, Con 15, Dex 19. Take Weapon Finesse at level 1.

Stat rolls: Before or after racial, and at what level (if 4+, before or after level up bonuses?) I would switch Wisdom and Con, otherwise placements look good.

I suggest not doing monk vows, not doing MoMS (it's great for a monk dip, but as a straight class monk it absolutely guts the class IMO), and...I wouldn't do Hungry Ghost, either. :)

Ki Power trades: I would not do scorching ray, it's too costly and you already have a sorc and two archer characters, party seems quite set for ranged combat. Best low level ki power to get would be Barkskin, or True Strike if using combat maneuvers a lot.

Styles: Why is it you chose the ones you did? From an optimization stand point...Dragon is ok, Tiger seems kinda unimpressive, and I'd never take Shaitan or any of the other "genie" ones.

Because this is literally my first experience with PF and I really havent had time to crunch the numbers. Most things were taken on an 'Ooh, shiny' impulse so any advice at all will probably help. Only thing I really want to keep is Dragon.

Stats at level 3, after racial.

Tiger was taken solely for Tiger Claws, which sounded so awesome.

I have no problem with dropping the genie style. What about Elemental fist?
It scales in damage since I have Dragon and might help out with DR.

Scorching Ray was for cool factor too. Might change it out for True Strike.

Hungry Ghost was mostly for Punishing kick.

Vows were taken for te extra Ki. Fasting will probably stay. Ill spring for a wand of CLW so fasting shouldnt be a problem soon. Silence will probably be dropped. Chains MIGHT stay if I decide to take Improved Grapple. Should I?

Secondary Build
Dex-17,Con-17,Wis-17,Str-14,Int-13,Cha-12
Qinggong, Flowing Monk

1 Improved Initiative, Weapon Finesse, Improved Repostion
2 Dodge (game starts here)
3 Catch Offguard( For use with my own chains)
5 Open
6 Improved Trip
7 Open
9 Greater Reposition
10 Spring Attack
Vows: Fasting, Chains,

Qinggong Tradeouts: High jump, Wholeness of Body
For: Barkskin, Gaseous Form

Party probably has damage covered so I'm going to focus on keeping the ranged at range

Might pour racial bonus into Dex if Weapon Finesse works for Reposition checks. Might take Improved Grapple if WF also applies to it.

Traits" Honoured Fist,
