Pimp my Pixie

Marshal auras work on the user, too, you know. A single dip level in Marshal, if you're not subject to XP penalties somehow, would let you permanently take your Cha bonus as a bonus to one thing of your choosing. ("Dex checks, Dex skills, and initiative rolls" is a good one.)

As much as this seems to be a cool idea, I tend to try and make my gestalted NPCs as easy to play and design as possible while still making them entertaining and interesting. Which means I generally stick to one set of classes and maybe one PRC. Until I run out of combos and ideas I will stick with these guidelines and seeing as none of them are weak (about to demolish the party with a Shifter Druid 12/Monk 12 combo with all the racial substitution levels) I try to not make things to complicated for myself :)

On a side note, which invocations would be best for the pixie? I want him to really be able to screw around with the party, in a way that will really piss them off :D

Least
Entropic warding, dark ones luck (on the most important save), see the unseen

Lesser
The dead walk, voracious dispelling, wall of gloom.

You are flying but are incredibly hard to hit with range attacks, one of your saves is basically unbeatable, you can see invisible and have darkvision.

When initiating combat you can break up the party with the wall of gloom, disrupt their buffs with dispelling, and raise any foes that they have defeated as minions to fight for you for a short time.

Plus your normal abilities allow you to steal the parties spells and use them to your own advantage.

With the feats I listed before you are also incredibly tough to kill and with the level of ranger you can track most anyone (or if you went for warblade you could have whichever stance fits best such as gaining scent).

Love it, love it, love it!! I can't wait to get home to start finalizing the stats on this guy :D

Charm.

Voracious dispelling is a decent one, too.

But if you really, REALLY wanna piss folks off:
[sblock]Check out Complete Arcane for the Mindbender PrC. Easy enough to qualify for in 6 levels as a pixie warlock with decent Int (skill points are the main req. and warlocks DO qualify for this PrC once they have the Charm invocation at level 6), and just one level gives telepathy with no loss to caster level (or in this case, warlock blast damage/invocations per level). Combine this + the Charm invocation and you'll have an invisible flying pixie who can charm things from 60' away by simply SPEAKING INTO THEIR MINDS. Other than a failed save, no one else in the party would even know that it had happened. And then you've got a party member who's listening very favorably to a tiny voice in their head, telling them to do things... Horrible things... :) Take this PrC further for increased PC mayhem.
(Also note that charm monster requires opposed Charisma checks to force characters to do something against their nature... Hmm, pixie Cha = 26, front-line fighter Cha = 8...)[/sblock]

Evilbob you live up to your name :D

I was also thinking, what does this Pixie need to qualify for Quicken Spell-like ability? I don't have my books with me but I believe its in there somewhere.

And here I thought you did not like prestige classes. :)

Quicken spell-like ability is in the monstrous manual and so in the system resource documentation.

http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsterFeats.htm#quickenSpellLikeAbility

I like PrCs, I don't like multiple sets of base classes ex. Ftr 4/Cleric 6//Rogue 5/Warlock 5. When I started with the Gestalt game it came with a few limitations to help make things easier to play and remember. First off you picked one set of base classes for your gestalt and stuck with those for the remainder of your levels except for PrCs. You were required to take atleast 2 levels of a PrC before and including 10th level, this was to slow down the power gain slightly and also add in some more flavor to the characters. The PrC wasn't gestalted with another class so picking the right one definately defined who your character was. That being said I tend not to follow the same for my NPCs -_- mainly cause most PrCs add too many different abilities that I usually forget about them come game time :(

Thanks for the link to the Quicken spell-like ability. It would be great to have the pixie lauch off a quickend EB with SA and steal some spells and then toss in an invocation to really mess with people :) One thing I have really found with the gestalt game is that you need to find ways to use up all your available options (Stnd, move, swift/immediate actions) or your NPC goes splat very fast, especially against 6 other gestalted PCs.

Ok so I will finalize his stats when I get back home but the one last thing to do is pick out some magic items :) I really like how MIC works for picking out magic items for NPCs so why don't we just follow that. Any suggestions on what this Pixie should be carrying around with him?

E

A bag of endless caltrops, a bag of tricks, a portable hole (with his entire home in, it is his mobile condo), miscellaneous non-magical gear suitable for a pixie, and the complete set of Array of the Manticore.

None of those items are particularlly if they fall into the parties hands and the pixie having the complete manticore set is just plain funny. The extra +1 to hit while airborn and effectively having 10/cold iron and magic for projectile weapons fits perfectly.

2/day being able to summon a maniticore should be fun as well. Plus if they do knock the pixie unconscious he is invisible with featherfall and cannot be tracked by scent.

Having +1 force javalins and far shot should come in handy occasionally, especially since the eldritch blast only goes so far.

Well, to resurrect an old thread.

I finally got around to finishing off the pixie :D He is going to be a blast to play, hopefully I get a chance to use him soon. I ended up going the mindbender route for the sure hilarity factor :) I will let you all know how it turns out.

Cheers,
E
