I got my left hand tied to the chair in kindergarten.
People don't believe me about the sort of things they did to Lefties, back then. Instead of getting that RPG trope of ambidexterity, I just got bad handwriting and a mess of skills that are mixed between which hand I use.
Lefties of the world, unite.I still cannot cut paper properly, and it took decades for the 'hook' in my wrist to go away when I write.
I gently would move the pencil to my son's right hand when he picked things up with his left as a toddler. No need for him to go through what I did.
My dad had his left hand tied down at school. His mom went in and put a stop to that. I was lucky in that times had changed and all I got was dirty looks and sore hands from right-handed scissors and spiral-bound notebooks. I never did the hook thing. I just let the letters lean.
