When I was learning to use a spoon, my mom would hand me the spoon in my right hand and I would immediately shift it to my left hand to eat. My dad would quickly grab it from me and put it back into my right hand, which had the same result of me putting it in my left hand. After he took it away a couple more times, I apparently got frustrated and threw it at him. The only learning that took place was him learning to leave me alone when I was trying to eat.
