Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Oh, Jack is well acquainted with the fine art of injuring himself...

Jack has a very nice scar collection - 109 of them now, and he can tell you the stories behind all but four or five of them (yes, there have been a handful of times Jack didn't even notice until after the fact that he was injured bad enough to leave a permanent scar and still has no idea how it happened)...

Possibly the most unique story is how I once literally saw the back of my own skull after stabbing myself in the back of the head. A "friend" was bouncing a basketball off my bedroom wall when we were in junior high, and I told him to stop. So he threw the ball at my head.
I was cleaning my nails with a small penknife at the time, and put my arm up to block the ball, which hit me in the elbow, causing me to require ten stitches in the back of my head. My mother was examining the wound while I looked on using a pair of mirrors, and I could see it went right through to the bone. My brother was like, "Dude... I can see your brain..." :p

Oh, and, Public Service Announcement, try to never end up with a terminal case of poison ivy AND a horrible case of the chicken pox at the same time. Thirty-five years later, I still have no hair on my legs. :)
I have a friend who swears, "The job isn't done, until Rob has hurt himself." Nasty habit of ignoring pain for "Maximum effort!"

I managed to permanently buff the hair off my shins via 40ish years of wearing motorcycle boots, at least 5 days a week.

"You can't talk someone into liking apples."

What if you tell them the doctor is Hannibal Lecter, and the only way to keep him away is...
I suppose you could talk someone into eating apples, but not necessarily liking them...

"Ugh, this apple is terrible." (chomp chomp) "There, I've eaten the wretched thing, Dr Lector can get bent. Now can I have some strawberries?"

It's weird because I just don't see this public flogging really, particularly now that he's passed, but a lot of these criticisms started in the past 20 years while he was still alive, making his famous Marvel Studios cameos, his own TV show, etc. It's one of those things where I suppose anyone trying to point out that Kirby et al did not receive proper credit for their creations meant Lee took what I would say was a fair share of criticism, but nowadays that target is far, far more likely to be Disney and Warner Discovery who have benefited immeasurably while the creators of the characters in their various comic related movies have received very little credit, and certainly no financial remuneration. Heck, it's possibly arguable that while Lee was the amongst the first to go through this interrogation of his contribution, it's actually Bob Kane who's gone through a greater analysis in the past few years as it has come to more people's attention that Bill Finger had much more to do with the character of Batman than Kane ever did.
I think his MCU cameos started the process of softening the criticisms, tbh. One of my first forays onto the internet was joining a comics message board (rip Komics Live) about 20 years ago, the difference between bringing up Stan Lee around the Gen X/Boomers who populated that site and around people my own age was already pretty marked even then. And now I almost never see him criticized, his hagiography after passing was pretty successful.

Funny thing with me and apples: I cannot stand them raw--I cannot even choke them down. I like cider just fine, though, and I'm more than happy to cook with them (yes, apple pie, but other desserts, and especially savory stuff).

Also re meal prep: keep a goodly assortment of sandwich & salad fixings on hand. I eat one or the other- or both- approximately daily.

I’ve even found ways to do eggs in the toaster oven and microwave for quick use in those.
Keep around some cooked staples like rice and beans and fresh ingredients like panela cheese and avocado.

I’ve heard people say that about tomatoes*, but never about apples.

* not me

I mostly can't stand anything raw. These days, I've learned to give people who are going to be cooking for me some warning about that. I know it's weird, I try not to be a pain in the ass about it (not that you were saying anything that direction).
