Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Fair enough, but if it's the money that's swaying you...it would be trivial for a 6-year-old with adult intellect and the ability to predict the future to make far more than $10 million.
Assuming everything would unfold exactly the same the second time around. That is not guaranteed. The person could end up with a brain full of useless knowledge because of a fork in time.

I feel like this might be a trap...but why would someone assume everything would unfold exactly the same way the second time around?

To capitalize on the knowledge like you said earlier. The person could spend 10 millions on Apple but then Jobs never returns because he has cancer much earlier in his life and the company goes bankrupt instead of having a renaissance.

If there's a bunch of other full prescience 6 year olds unleashed in the timeline with you who also want to change stuff, nothing will follow the same trajectory anyway.

I'd pay $10 million not to have to redo the ages of 6 to 26 again.

I have never spent the time to confirm this (I mean, I have a life) but I get the impression that there are a handful of posters who can be perfectly reasonable and admit/accept nuance and the difference of experience in some threads but in other threads when confronted by folks from “the other side” slip into some of the worst behavior.

These folks end up on and off my ignore list depending on my mood and theirs and the general discourse of the boards that month.

Also, I fully acknowledge that I don't need to be a part of every discussion. Not every thread is written for me.

Like, there is a thread right now with a title of "This Thing Is Awful" (I'm paraphrasing) and it has a ton of pages. Now I happen to enjoy the Awful Thing being discussed, so it took me only a single page to realize I didn't belong there. Sure, I could have let them bait me into responding, then let myself get all worked up and angry, then start ignoring people. Some folks seem to really enjoy this type of discourse.

But the better response is to just disengage and leave. "Woops," I think to myself. "I must have taken a wrong turn, this isn't my neighborhood." Then I make a U-turn and go back to the topics and discussions I actually enjoy.
There was a topic that generated a LOT of attention a decade ago+ ago that touched on my professional experiences. At the time, I’d get involved in every thread involving that topic. This was very much me:

After months of this, I made one big summation of my position and posted it in the only active thread on the topic at that time, and said it was my final word on the topic.

My position hasn’t changed, but I haven’t responded to that topic since.

Most of us have something that will trigger that sort of response. Sometimes it's a perfectly reasonable response to an unreasonable position. Some just haven't been presented with it yet.

Again, though, reliving your experiences with bullies & other problematic people before your adult intellect had a meaningful impact on improving your outcomes would be stressful.

Ditto reliving certain tragedies you’d have little chance- if any- of averting would likewise be difficult.

And of course, just because you’d have the foreknowledge to make great investments, it doesn’t follow that your new timeline would end any better, because NEW unforeseen and unforeseeable challenges would arise. You might not get a happy ending.

Besides him, I actually knew a multimillionaire whose wealth came from selling land to the builders of Texas Stadium. One 3 day weekend, all of his (and several other clients) accounts were cleaned out by his money manager and a bank employee. The employee got caught; the embezzler escaped with the money to a county with no extradition. And the bank decided to fight.

His case wound up in federal court and was proceeding…until the Hurricane Katrina lawsuits were allowed to jump the queue.

He died alone living in a mobile home before his case was able to be resolved.

TL;DR, I’m taking the $10M.
