Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

I was once driving to work on the Garden State Parkway; it was three lanes of heavy stop-and-go traffic due to the rain storm. Suddenly, it turned into an absolute downpour and traffic stopped. Then, lightning began striking trees on either side of the roadway; I counted at least twenty strikes, so it must have been thirty or so, over the course of a couple of minutes.

Then it stopped, a few minutes later the rain lessened and traffic began to move again, and ten minutes later the sun was out when I finally got off the Parkway.

It was the damnedest thing. Maybe a D&D wizard was practicing his spellcasting nearby? Still, thirty strikes, how high was his level?

Druid with Call Lightning.
Come to think of, it, Montrose le Metelier, my old D&D 3.5 gray elf Wizard 4/Druid 4/Arcane Hierophant 10 could manage quite the number of call lightnings and lightning bolts per day, as well as plane shift... Maybe he was trying to make contact?

I once had lightning strike a traffic signal post that was right next to me, in an absolute downpour, while sitting at that light and waiting to make a left turn on a motorcycle. I felt that. I'd never want to actually be hit, no matter what I was wearing.
I had a teacher in high school who was struck by lightning twice. He was an odd guy. I'm not sure how much that had to do with the lightning though. He had been married four times, wife two made up half of those, and I believe at some point over the last 19 years they got divorced and remarried again.
