For all those times you don't want to think, “AI.”

I equally dislike when people use their head canon/homebrew to argue for a rule they think everyone should accept or for the primacy of their playstyle as when people dismiss any head canon/homebrew ideas for a rule because the book does not explicitly state it.

Looking at the URL in question, it's at https://scontent-den2-1.xx.fbcdn.net/ . That's a Facebook-linked URL. Likely, if you aren't logged in on Facebook, it won't display the image.

Generally speaking, you're better off copying the image and pasting it into the post in question instead of hotlinking to images on other servers which may or may not display for others, and may change in the future. I have a vague recollection of an old Internet tale of someone noticing that some pictures on their site was using up a lot of bandwidth, and changing the picture in question to goatse or something like that.
Yeah. Hotlinking is dickish behaviour. You're making some other site pay for another site's bandwidth.

Plus, you can't guarantee that link will stay valid. In six months your post is a broken mess. We have a perfectly simple image hosting WYSIWYG editor. Just upload the image.

There are some people who value other people so little that they communicate with little more than the copy and paste of URLs. If people can't be bothered to talk to you, don't feel obligated to talk to them. It's just basic respect.

Just kidding, I agree with your post. I like reading old gaming posts, and checking out a decades-old post about an RPG can be a real challenge (or downright impossible) when all of the links are dead! I remember trying to read one old thread (ironically, in an archive of a Yahoo! Group I used to be in, and it's fifty posts replying to an OP that was a dead image; it was like coming into a conversation halfway through but nobody bothers explaining to you what started it.
