Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Gaming story:

I'm running Phandelver. So, they blew into town, I introduced a bunch of NPC's, and not a single one of them stuck. Nothing. The players didn't really care about any of them. A few sessions later, they head to Neverwinter to do some stuff, and on the way back to Phandelin, I drop in a random one shot adventure: A Tough Tavern to Swallow. Nothing too serious, I just wanted to run it.

When the party walks into the bar, the lizardfolk bartender says, and this is a direct quote from the boxed text: "Hey Ned. Your face is long. You are a horse." in an attempt at telling a joke.

The party latched onto this NPC like a freaking limpet. I actually had to transport the NPC to Phandalin (becoming the new bartender at The Sleeping Giant). They have never again set foot in the actual inn in town where the adventure assumes the party will hang out.

I spent time making images, backstories, connections for all these Phandalin natives, and watched it all swirl down the drain because the party loved a stupid joke. For a one shot NPC that I had not done single thing for.

Sometimes I hate players.

This is probably a very unpopular opinion and certainly not a swipe at @Scribe as I don't know the context of the post in question but one reason I am not a big fan of having threads where we essentially comment passive aggressively on other threads or posters is precisely because it breeds passive aggressive hostility between posters (I think it has become less of a vent for peoples frustration and simply deepened tensions between people on the forum in the past year or however long it has been since we have been doing this)
You are not wrong and yet there is a pull to have an outlet…

People are weird creatures (said as my dogs are on the floor with mouths open kicking their feet in the air etc.)

So, my son likes pineapple on pizza, and I do not. Traditionally, we watch two episodes of a TV show we have on DVD (we're introducing my nephew to older shows he missed when he was little - last week we finished up season 7 of Buffy, so today we watched the first two episodes of Angel) while eating pizza from Little Caesar's, which is just down the road from us. Getting tired of the three-meat treat my son and I had been splitting week after week, we came up with a compromise: ordering a Hula Hawaiian (ham and pineapple) for the two of us, only with the whole pizza's worth of pineapple shoved over to one side. End result: I get half a ham pizza, while he gets half a ham-with-double-pineapple pizza. Everybody wins (as long as I don't think about the monstrosity my son's eating).

My nephew, BTW, gets a whole cheese pizza to himself, as per his preference.

Finding out that pizza places will do toppings on half a pizza was a real game changer. My father is possibly one of the pickiest eaters I've ever met in my life. It's so bad, that my parents pretty much always have deli ham in the fridge, because my step mother has gotten sick of eating boring meals every week. So it's not uncommon for my mom and sisters to be eating one thing for dinner, and my dad eats a ham sandwich or left-overs instead. It was nice discovering that we could get pizzas with vegetables on them rather than just meat.

My significant other is also a picky eater (No where near as bad as my dad.. ) so we are often ordering or making our pizzas with half-toppings. Our current go-to order is ham, feta cheese, and banana peppers on half.

Funny enough, even being picky eaters, both my dad, and my girlfriend like Hawaiian pizza.

A couple years ago I went back and was re-watching some childhood favorites to see what held up and what didn't.

Anything with John Candy in it, holds up easily.

SpaceJam.. Despite how much of soft spot it is for many of my fellow millennials does not hold up.

Three Musketeers with Kiefer Sutherland and Tim Curry? Holds up okay. Not a certified banger, but not a bad flick.

Now ladies and gentlemen of the jury I am just a country lawyer and all I have heard from these fat-cat, city-slicker corporations are fancy words like copyright, trademark, trade dress… now what in tarnation is a trade dress I have not seen such a dress at the local Walmart…

Sir, this is a Wendy’s.

Ladies and Gentleman of the Jury. I'm just a caveman lawyer. Your modern world confuses me.

That’s got to make for interesting table conversation.
