Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

I sold Mazdas(And Subarus) for a while. They are such great, but underrated vehicles. Especially the 5. The idea of a compact van is so neat. They were really hard sells though. Americans are obsessed with large vehicles. It's wild how often Young couples would come in with a sedan like an Accord or Camry, and saying they were having a (As in one.. Singular) kid, saying they just absolutely needed a three row SUV to accommodate their baby.
My wife did that exact thing. When she was pregnant she decided that her Camry wasn't big enough and bought a Lexus RX350 SUV instead. I was perplexed, but supported her decision. I drive a sedan and that same kid always seemed to fit just fine.

When I went I was specifically out for a goth night, but we parked behind Musso & Frank's and I saw Cristoph Waltz there, chatting with a woman. Maybe I'll actually try the restaurant next time I visit. :)
Musso & Frank's is one of the old time Hollywood restaurants that is still around. It has that old time vibe and amazing food.

I've seen car seats in cars much smaller than Camrys and Accords.

I don't know if it's a mental thing? Naturally parents worry for their kids' safety, and perhaps they feel that wrapping more car around the kid will make them safer?

I can't say. My fur covered, four legged kid fits just fine in the back seat of my compact hatchback

I don't believe in the no-win scenario
I remember a friend would drive these old GM beaters. He had a Buick that was so bad that the heat stopped working (a real bad thing in Minnesota) and I swear the frame was almost rusted away to dangerous proportions. When his wife got pregnant she made him get rid of it. He'd probably still be driving it today if it wasnt for his kids. Those old 3800 V6 engines were bullet proof. Keep changing the oil and they will run for hundreds of thousands of miles. Which, is of course, why GM stopped making them.

I know my wife's logic included that there was more space to put in diaper bags, kids toys, etc., but I still got those things into my sedan just fine. 🤷‍♂️

Camry's have so much trunk space. But that was the excuse a lot of people gave. In most three-row SUVs that third row is practically worthless. But you fold down those seats and end up with a pretty large cargo area. The flat floor and hatch also means it's easier to pull things like strollers in and out, rather than having to lift them out of a trunk.

Even given all that, I'm still not sure it's worth the added upfront costs, and the worse gas mileage.

The Mazda5 is like that. The third row seats are pretty much only usable by small children but, when folded down, it makes for a pretty big storage area for a smallish car. I used those seats exactly once, in 9 years, and kept them folded down the rest of the time.
