Personally I do tend to prefer a lot of music made in that era. Especially on the rock end of thingsThen again, my son tells me that music was better back in the 70's (he's 20) so I dont know.

You’re not wrong. Also some folk metal gets uncomfortably nationalistic for my tastes
You’re not wrong.
Everyone who has any taste in music at all, knows that no good music has been written after 1827.
At least, if you ask my father...
"You owe me this, but I owe you nothing in return," is a sad sentiment both in-and-of itself, and in how prevalent it is.Yowza, that's some Capital-E Entitlement going on over there.
For example I quite like the style of The Hu, but their lyrics are quite nationalistic.I have to admit, I find the whole creating musical styles simply by combing into further and further sub genres a bit tiresome these days (one of my big turn offs to a lot of newer metal is this subdivision into more and more specific styles. It reminds me a bit of listening to black metal when it was first emerging (I can still listen to it but I got more into doom as a result of the black metal lyrical content)For example I quite like the style of The Hu, but their lyrics are quite nationalistic.
