Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Yeah, i tend to agree. One of my nephews literally eats nothing other than grilled cheese or chicken nuggets at a restaurant, and his parents already have a hard time getting him to eat healthier at home. I suspect the last thing they'd want is to fight that battle when they're at a restaurant.
If I noticed that on a menu, i'd just up and leave.

Eta, i can't even imagine a serious eating establishment not understanding that, either.
Yep, food issues are real. My wife cannot eat split pea soup (I can take it or leave it) as it will induce nausea. One of my nephews has texture issues around fruit and will not eat anything with said ingredient. Navigating allergies, food restrictions, preferences is no joke with my family and fiends.

For example my home campaign group consists of a Vegetarian, keeps Kosher/Gluten Intolerance (Vegetarian), No Dairy (that's me!), and an allergy to coconut (which 0.039% of the US population has, that's my wife). Cooking food that we can all share is, challenging. Not impossible but challenging none the less. Dining in means finding a place that has a diverse menu to order from when we gather together.

Fortunately I live in Portland, Oregon and there are plenty of food choices and ingredients to get that make it possible. None of us would eat at a place that offers a $100 cheese sando because who has time for that ish.

I will say, my taste in food has evolved. As a child sour cream was a no go for me (my father loved it) and later in life I found that I could enjoy it. I miss it now that I have had to go dairy free. I haven't found a suitable substitute yet.

Same here. When I was a kid, things like turnips, cabbage, dark greens, radishes were all painfully bitter (which I gather is the case for a lot of kids). Now, I enjoy (most) cruciferous veggies, even raw. For whatever reason my tongue just doesn't burn like it used to in reaction to whatever that compound is. That particular "growing up" of the palate seems to be pretty common.

Irritatingly, in the last several years, I'm growing more sensitive again to certain flavors and spices. It's getting to the point it's impacting my enjoyment of food. 😡

As for tastes changing from childhood to adulthood. Is it not because ou taste buds die off as we age? Thus something we thought had an unbearably strong flavour then, we know think are tasty.
