Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Our group had a guy like this for a long time. It wasn't that he was the "Forever GM" so much as he was always the guy with a new idea, often before what he'd running had resolved much. Playing in so many super-short, barely (at best) resolved campaigns might be a large part of why the campaigns I've been running have gone for 5+ years.
This guy was so easily bored with a game that we would sometimes have character creation sessions, for a new one, then never actually play it. You get all hyped on something and buy the $40.00 book, then it sits on your shelf forever.

There is a search though many things have numerous servers. For example there are regional servers for Battletech all over the us and Europe. So, usually it takes a bit of joining and finding the right server for you.
Are you referring to the "Discover" function? I'd never noticed that before until now, heh.

For sure. I'm sure finding a 2e or 4e D&D game is easier than finding a insert unpopular version of Shadowrun game. It's usually easier if you're willing to GM, but from the post you were responding to if the person has anxiety than running a game might not be a possibility.
Yeah. Not sure about them, but it’s worked for me. To a point. That’s why I’ve mostly refereed games in the last few years. I like less mainstream stuff so finding players is easier than finding a referee. But it’s still not easy finding players. It does grind me down at times having to drag players through games. If I could get through one session of not-D&D without a player saying some version of “That’s cool and all, but when can we get back to / play D&D” that would make me so happy.

I've only got a little experience with discord. How do you find dedicated servers for gaming? Is there some sort of search mechanism?
Search the net for them. Use your browser or search engine of choice. If it’s a decent-sized company, they’ll probably have a discord. If not, then the fans will. Check Reddit. Subs often have links to related discords.

That sounds more like a player-thing (or maybe a person-thing) than a D&D-thing. I mean, if I sign up to play something other than D&D, it's not because I'm hoping it'll turn into D&D.

Yeah. Something like 90% of the hobby is D&D 5E. Finding players who aren’t aching to get back to that is a chore. At least it is for me. Still, makes me like 5E even less when I run into players who try to drag groups back to that.

Not related to the above.

I’ve waited patiently on the Monty Python’s Cocurricular Mediaeval Reenactment Programme Kickstarter for however long and that’s fine. Whenever it gets here it gets here.

Until now.

Apparently.

The package finally got a shipping label on Feb 26. Woo hoo! And it took three days to move from that to USPS is waiting for the package. Boo hiss! And it’s been sitting there since Mar 1.

Long string of expletives deleted.

Just put the box on a truck. It would be quicker to fly to the east coast and pick it up myself.

If that sets you off then I don't suggest you sign up for email notifications. A couple of years ago I bought a Smallsword for a friend in Whiting, IN from a shop in Elgin, IL. I was hoping that she would do a CosPlay of "La Maupin." Elgin is just west of Chicago, close enough to be a suburb. Whiting is just across the border border between Indiana and Illinois, and is also a suburb of Chicago despite the border.

It took a couple of days for the sword to go from Elgin to the postal clearing area at O'Hare. Then 3 days to go across O'Hare to the transshipment facility. After a few days there it was sent out to... Indianapolis. It then took a week to make it back to Whiting. Experience tells me that it would have made it to Toronto faster. I felt like driving down there, picking it up at the shop, then driving it to her house would have been easier on my blood pressure.
