We lucked out with our first plates here in SF: 9BAY###. Easy to remember and very welcoming.I still remember all my vanity plates in college (it was a state where they were super-inexpensive). The randomly generated plate I've had for 12 years now? No idea.
Following his success with "The Martian" and "Project Hail Mary," Weir delivers another science-driven thriller. This time, the story follows a programmer who discovers that an AI system has developed consciousness—and has been secretly influencing global events for years.
Apparently "secretly influencing global events for years" includes publishing summer reading lists.I'm spending my summer reading Andy Weir's new book, "The Last Algorithm." Very timely material!
If it turns out the AI is behind the "song of the summer" discourse and all of social media talking about the names for each full moon, then it's 100% evil and has to be destroyed.Apparently "secretly influencing global events for years" includes publishing summer reading lists.
Well, here's the list of my summer reading:Apparently "secretly influencing global events for years" includes publishing summer reading lists.
"The Super Strawberry Cheddar Cheese Three Wolf Moon is Almost Here: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW!"If it turns out the AI is behind the "song of the summer" discourse and all of social media talking about the names for each full moon, then it's 100% evil and has to be destroyed.
So far, community reaction to the list has been largely negative online, but others have expressed sympathy for the publication. Freelance journalist Joshua J. Friedman noted on Bluesky that the reading list was "part of a ~60-page summer supplement" published on May 18, suggesting it might be "transparent filler" possibly created by "the lone freelancer apparently saddled with producing it."
The publication error comes two months after the Chicago Sun-Times lost 20 percent of its staff through a buyout program. In March, the newspaper's nonprofit owner, Chicago Public Media, announced that 30 Sun-Times employees—including 23 from the newsroom—had accepted buyout offers amid financial struggles.
My players wanted to alternate our relatively upbeat 5E campaign (Radiant Citadel, playing shieldbearers) with Shadowdark the over other proffered options*. I had really been hoping to play Mothership with a full on "capitalism is the real villain" vibe.So anyway, I think I'll pick up Cy_Borg.

Unrelated to the ABOVE modern hellscape 'feature' yet still related to our modern hellscape.
I often wonder if its worth it to just let it all out and put it here as a form of release, even if it results in an earned and accepted warning point.
So far, I can resist and just go to the gym instead but boy some days...
