Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Yep. Still, there was always something nice about pulling up to a chilled salad bar and selecting from a wider variety of chopped ingredients than I'd ever have the patience to do myself at home.
Same. I'm not a big fan of salads, mostly because when I make them at home they're boring. But gimme a good salad bar and I'm in. Absolutely love the seemingly random ingredients they put out.

As a picky eater, I always liked a good buffet in general; I could just get whatever I wanted and leave the rest.

I'm not afraid to say that there is a certain charm to things like buffet ribeye. It's kinda analogous to the greaseball burger. It's obviously not as good as the super high end, organic, perfectly seasoned and dressed high end version of things, but it's also a fullfilling experience you can't match by paying more money.

Of course, I'm a rare meat guy lots of the time, but I would recommend medium well at a buffet.

I used to enjoy Golden Corral for this exact reason, quantity counts for something! But since moving to California I've pretty much dropped all buffets because I can't get over how much more they cost. Except for Indian buffets, since those seem to the same price no matter where in the country you go, somehow.

There is a Chinese buffet in my town that I love. Its only available for lunch 11am-2pm M-F. So, everything is relatively fresh and delicious. Best part is its only $12.95. An unbelievable price considering to get half the food delivered to me from there would be $30 dollars.

Though, im a no on buffets 99% of the time.

It's weird. I was reading a lengthy series of exchanges because, apparently, I hate myself.

And there was a lot of heat and some anger. But the one thing I kept noticing is that all of the posts attacking other ...ways of engaging with something?

When I read them, I felt like I was learning a lot about the person making the comment, and very little about what they were attacking.

Sus....

I'm very jealous. The last time I went to a Chinese buffet it was 22 dollars, not very good, and they added a charge for each plate you left food on 'to reduce waste' that they applied very liberally.

God, I miss old school salad bars. Well, I miss being one of the first people there. Post-pandemic, not enthusiastic about buffets full of sniffling and coughing other customers.

Which is why most big buffet chains in the U.S. are gone now.

Most of the salad bar chains I used to hit- like Sweet Tomatoes and Soup R Salad- collapsed (locally, at least) well before COVID. Golden Corral collapsed during/after the pandemic.

Right now, the only chain I can think of that offers a salad bar is Jason’s Deli.

We still have other buffets, too, but beyond Cici’s, most are owned by small restaurants. I know of several Indian, Chinese, Southern and Mediterranean fusion buffet options in my usual stomping grounds.

I think Pizza Hut dine-in locations still have them, but I haven’t been in one in YEARS. The closest to me is at least a 20 minute drive in a direction that is simultaneously not generally convenient AND on the way to superior options.🤷🏾‍♂️
