Playing Oldschool - White Plume Mountain with 1e

Yes, and it has also training rules where you have to pay a certain amount of money to gain a new level.

Forgot about those. Yes, those are another way to pump money out of the PCs.

A note: Gygax rarely used the training rules.

So, money is being taken from the PCs for training and upkeep. That's nice. What are they spending it on? (Magic items, as noted by previous posters, were rarely available!)

Cheers!

Note the 2e round and I'm guessing from your comments the 1e round are a full minute, so spell duration for haste in the older versions of the game is a little more than 10 times longer than it is now.

Well sure, in terms of raw time. But then, that has little practical impact when you only get one action within that 1 minute long round. Comparing between editions is much easier if you retain the 'round' unit of measure.

Makes no difference. You can't do much more in a round then than you can do now. (In fact, often less. Check the movement rate in dungeons... 120 feet per 10 minutes was standard when exploring, and 120 feet per 1 minute was standard in a combat - if you didn't wear armour!)

Cheers!
