An alleged plot to blow up planes going from the UK to the US has been foiled according to the BBC.

I'm glad it was foiled, obviously. I have a coworker who is across the pond right now who is due to come back to the USA next week.

Actually, according to TV reports, it's the Pakistani intelligence services that deserve the lion share of the credit. They're the ones who infiltrated the terrorists and tipped off the Brits.

So, now, it wouldn't surprise me if they permanently ban liquids from carryons. Which didn't bother me *so* much, until I heard that, among the things that fall into that list is lip balm.
