Power Lunge

I know this has been covered many times before, I just can't seem to find the threads.

How does the multiplying of damage work? I seem to remember somewhere that the "double your strength modifier" replaces your strength instead of in addition to like the feat suggests.

Example:
3rd level Fighter with Greatsword and 18str
How much damage would he do on a charge?

2d6 + str * (1+ .5 + 1) = 2d6+ 10 or
2d6 + str *(1+ .5) + str*(2) = 2d6+16

I can see it replacing the normal strength modifier, but why doesn't the character using a weapon 2-handed do more damage than one using a weapon 1-handed?

Just the way it works. Also note if you do this attack with your off hand the times two replaces the times half that off hands normally get.

I don't recall any comments by the Sage on this issue (as if that ever stopped anyone, anyway :)). Why wouldn't it be wrong to say that the x2 stacks with the x1.5, using the D&D rules for "multiplication"?

I personally don't have a problem with that. I remember there was a TON of discussion on it when S&F first came out and that ended up being the ruling so I just stuck it in my notes.

Actually, I just checked the offical errata for S&F:

p. 8, Power Lunge
Insert to the end of the 1st sentence in Benefit:
regardless of whether you’re using one- or two-handed weapons.

I do. IceBear and Crothian are correct.

Technically the feat says to add double your Strength modifier to the attack's damage. Last time I checked, the damage form an attack with a two-handed weapon included 1.5 your Strength modifier. The "right" answer is 2d6 + 6 ("the attack's damage") + 2 x Str mod (Power Lunge) = 2d6+14.

This is yet another badly worded S&F feat that wasn't fixed in the errata. (Presumably, the Sage ruling also applies to "Mantis Leap".)
