Let's see--controversial statement, no other content... how is it not a troll?

Ah, I finally got off of my but and looked up the definition of this trolling, (which I passed off in other forums as lingo i didnt understand and didn't feel like stopping my debate to find out).

After reading, I have come to the conclusion that this is a troll. Now I realize Im such a dupe for trolls

Perhaps, but their is an understood debate Mythus was addressing. So fairly minor in the world of trolling - which has more negative connotations than that to me. Mythus has participated in a meaningful way in the thread to alleviate any such label as "troll" in my estimation. I don't agree with him, but hey, he's kept it polite for the most part.

No, you are trolling. The fact that you participate in the thread in a level headed manner merely means you are an advanced troll.

Trolling is not a new phenomenon. The term was probably coined in the early 80s. I know I've been using it on the interent since 1987. (Back in my day.... <wheez>...) The best trolls were always the ones who could keep enough people from recognizing their trolling through good manners.

Oh, I don't know - there was one fellow in the early 90s who would preface his posts with 'This is a Troll, if you are likely to get upset please disregard this post. Otherwise feel free to scream, yell, and wave your arms, but don't get personal.' I sometimes wonder what happened to him, the board, dedicated to some GDW games, is long gone.

He did not actually hide what the posts were, and a lot of folks had fun picking some of the silliest sides imaginable. (In what was otherwise a very serious hard S.F. gaming site.)
