• NOW LIVE! Into the Woods--new character species, eerie monsters, and haunting villains to populate the woodlands of your D&D games.

Propose a D&D adventure secretly based on a TV show or movie, and we'll try to guess what show

Admittedly, I took a few liberties and flipped the protagonist and antagonist roles to make it a player-character-friendly adventure. Here's a hint: The druid alchemist has a tabby cat familiar.
Please, nothing to do with Smurfs? ;)

And Tiandra has me stumped, even though I can see the entire plot in my mind. ARGH! ... Pink Panther?
Ooh, I should totally do a game based on the Pink Panther. But, no, this one's actually less of a stretch from movie (or book) to D&D adventure - the movie (there have been multiple adaptations) included plenty of swordplay.

While traveling, the party make a brief side trip - a pair of old colleagues sent a message to the party's cleric. They've been exploring an old temple complex and strange events and even stranger deaths have been happening. They need the cleric's (and the party's help). When the party arrives, they find that the cleric forgot to mention that the colleagues are an ex-lover and their spouse (who is also an old friend of his). The rest is true, though the friends don't seem to be as eager as they should be.
That's a terribly familiar sub-plot, the ex who married your friend. But I can't place it.

Now it clicked. Dumas! The Three Musketeers!

Why? You get to kill the bloody things in the adventure. Is this not good? ;)

For the current one: The bodies all have circular marks (about the size of a gold piece) on all their bare skin.

New one: The princess has been kidnapped! The villains are hiding out in the largest, most corrupt, lawless, and violent island kingdom in the world. If you can penetrate their defenses and return the princess to her father all your alleged crimes will be pardoned (and you can prevent a war). You only have 48 hours. Good luck.

Got it.

When you put it that way...

Ah, ST:tOS, The Man Trap.

Escape from New York?

This one's tougher:

After a successful mission leaves them with an excess of coin, the party journeys to the quixotic barony of Vatavia, and home to a famous Artificer, in the hopes of acquiring some unique upgrades for their gear. They arrive in town to find the people oddly subdued and no children in evidence. They are told that children are being kidnapped in spite of their 'protectors,' miniature shield golems in the form of dolls or stuffed animals made by that same famed Artificer, who will consent to make the items they want only if they solve the mystery...

I knew that would give it away. And the other was/is, indeed, EfNY.

Your latest is throwing me. I'm sure its in the horror genre, but the setup doesn't feel right.

Next one:
A village leader and his prophet brother approach the party; they've been chased from their homes (and their village destroyed) by a tribe of giants. To get to a potential new home, they'll have to cross unexplored, giant-filled wilderness - there isn't any room for the displaced village nearby. And its more than they can handle - the attack left too few defenders. Along the way, the tribe will encounter giant crevasses, more giants, the pets of giants (each capable to killing a skilled warrior in a single blow), other tribes, and almost everything else you can think of.

It's no fun if no one gets it. :)

Yeah, it's hardly fair. For one thing, it's a movie crossed with a video, for another it's only a sub-plot in the movie.

Since we're guessing the movie, here's a clue: the video was Radioactive by Imagine Dragons. Thus the plush golems.

And that's still not fair, 'cause you're off on the wrong track. Not only not horror (though there's a kid-scaring villain in it), but a musical.

I have one hint that's guaranteed to give it away, by Google if nothing else. [sblock]Based on a book by Ian Fleming.[/sblock]

I have a sneaking suspicion this was inspired by something about mice...

...but I can't place it.

I had to resort to Google. 1) I'd never seen that video (heard the song, of course) 2) I always forget he wrote that book.

Not mice. Here's the hint: English Rabbits.

GuardianLurker is it Watership Down?

The party, after failing to defeat the BBEG, is sucked into a rift and transported far away from their homes. In order to get home they must acquire a magical tome for the sage. However, disturbing the tome summons an army of the dead! The PCs must rally the local defenders, help the sages craft alchemical defenses and convince the two warring lords to put aside their differences and ally together against the dead. After defeating the undead host the sage prepares a potion to send them home.

GuardianLurker you're correct. I was hoping that would be easy enough. Sometimes, especially with riddles, I think to myself "Oh this is easy!" but that's because I already know the solution.
