Question for those who buy PDFs.

Do you prefer B&W, very plain PDFs with little to no illustrations and no background or side graphics?

Or, do you prefer graphic-heavy documents with lots of color and art?

Both. One to print (Plain jane B&W nothing fancy) and a 'Pretty one' to display or if I feel like blowing the color ink cartridge out of my printer. :D

If I had to choose between one or the other, I'd choose B&W hands down. I almost always print off my PDFs, and since I have a B&W printer the graphics don't come out nice.

I concur. However, if I have to pick I'll take plain B&W

If stuck with either or i'd have to go with the B&W, Although it seems pretty common for them to come with both versions. I also have a tendance to blow my color ink on the color version anyway.

If i can piggy back onto Phil's request, I'm most interested in the side graphics part of the question. Do you like side graphics or would you prefer that the columns were wider so the text took up that space (resulting in fewer pages)?

What would be nice is that the pdfs where also designed to be printed on A4 paper which is only 21 cms wide (we have a darned big problem getting Letter paper around here in europe)...

Testing

The best thing I can think to do is release my next PDF with two versions in the zipped file. One letter-sized B&W and one A4-sized B&W. I may or may not include some artwork (probably not).

I'll probably have 101 Arcane Spell Components finished in the next week so that one will probably be the test document.

Thanks to everyone who gave some feedback.

I like the full color, 100% effort, full graphic version because I want to see the quality and creativity of the product, and really get a feel for the material.

I'll probably want to print it, too, so include a printer-friendly version, or a text-only version too.
