D&D (2024) Quotes from the Monster Manual

There's quite a few quotes in the new Monster Manual and this time more noteworthy than the ones in the 2014 MM.

Some of them are characters like Iuz or Tasha/Iggwilv.

One of them is Vi in the Blob of Annihilation entry using perhaps the first instance of a certain 4 letter word in 5e at least.

Bree-yark! gets yet another translation in the Goblin entry.

Astarion from BG3 gets one.

There's a bunch of quotes from Planescape:
-Tarsheva Longreach was quoted in the Shadow entry
-The Glabrezu from Tales of the Infinite Staircase is quoted
-They re-used a quote from Planes of Chaos in the Slaad entry
-The Dust Mephit shop-keeper Seamusxanthuszenus from Uncage: Faces of Sigil also gets a quote in the Mephit entry.

Any other quotes from the new MM stand out?

I love how absolutely obscure some of these references are. The crawling claw entry has a quote from the 2e Ravenloft supplement "Van Richten's Guide to the Created", for example.

Yeah, I'll be honest - I was surprised to see that in a book marketed for 12 and up.

I'm not surprised because 12 year-olds shouldn't see that kind of language. I'm surprised that it didn't get censored. America has a real weird prudish approach to swearing in the public space. You know, like it's fine for people to swear in their songs, but if you want to play it on the radio, the swearing has to be edited out.

When I first moved to NZ, I was surprised by how tolerant people here are of swearing in the public space.
