Aww, thread closed before I could get to it.

Down with the MM races! May the human and changeling be remembered! Long live halflings!

I voted against the Razorclaw Shifter, not Longtooth. My problem with the Razorclaw Shifter is that they have the same stat bonuses as elves, they have the same "fast nature-boy" theme as elves, and we already have elves in the PHB1 as one of the iconic races of the game. They're redundant. At least the Longtooth has a different stat bonus pair and a racial ability that emphasizes durability.
Interesting.
I really like their "speed-up" racial power, though, which is where they really differ. I would have liked more than two shifter types, but the Razorclaw shifter is my fav of the two. I have a Razorclaw monk who routinely gets up to speeds of 12 / move (thanks to Dragonborn Greaves). I liked the 3e "faster" shifter too (can't remember what they were called any more!), and feel that it offers more than a simple old shoot-bows-well elf :)

I really like shifter fluff - if you want a bestial kind of race; this is a reasonable way to do it. I don't see them as particularly problematically werewolf like, but I suppose that could be a problem for some.

I can't help but agree that their mechanics are underdeveloped. Their bloodied-only racial is kinda nifty but just not nearly strong enough to compensate for the utter lack of other interesting features and feats. I'd been hoping that the Eberron player's guide would fix that, but alas, that book (and setting in general) is far less interesting than its 3.5 counterpart; there's just not much support there - not many feats, not many shifters, and not many options in general.

No votes for elves, at all? That's . . . surprising. I have nothing against them but I assumed there was always this undercurrent of hate about them.

Humans got voted off? I figured they'd've lasted longer considering their versatility, feat support, and strong paragon path. Plus, I mean, I'm human. Yeah.

So Githerzai, Genasi, Human, Razorclaw and Orc get the boot...

That leaves* 12 Races in the game, namely Dwarf, Eladrin, Elf, Gnome, Goblin, Halfling, Half-elf, Half-orc, Hobgoblin, Kobold, Longtooth Shifter and Tiefling.

* No guarantees included in this offer

So, next round, same recipe - or do we want to start multi-voting?

I say same recipe. Changing the rules mid stride doesn't feel right from a statistician's PoV. If we had been allowing multiple votes, probably more monster races would have been kicked out at the same time, both Giths would have been kicked out at the same time, etc. I think by limiting to 1 vote we are getting a different picture of what people dislike the most in each poll, without the fuzzy overlapping common but milder dislikes.

From a voter's PoV though, I can certainly understand people wanting multiple votes.

Let's have TWO votes, for a five round elimination and a grand finale.

Also, with two votes, I can get rid of the nassty halfling AND the cowardly kobold (who managed to hide until now, but his turn is coming).

Agree with mengu.

If I could start over, I'd probably allow multiple votes and eliminate all entries above the third quartile for each round.
