and now being in a small rural town two hours from the nearest FLGS where half the population (even those who were extras in the movie) call Orcs 'those things on the Peter Jackson movie' - its really hard to find good game company:(

 They know who Peter Jackson is? I've met people who didn't even know what a director was.

I gamed with one black guy in high school, but other than that they've all been white. Not by choice or anything, that's just how they all ended up.

I guess in NJ I would be counted as an Ethnic Minority. I don't really mind, given that I'm Filipino and we're not too particular about race.

I'd rather have it that people not understand me when I curse.

In my old gaming group back in the Philippines, we were all Filipinos but many of us varied in descent. I've had Chinese guys and Caucasians.

Race doesn't really matter to me, for the most part. As long as you play well and play nice, its all good. If a guy was purple, however, I'd care.

... Because he's probably choking! Of course, I'd help him!

re

I am multiethnic individual member of the human race whose nationality is American. I don't like the current race divisions as I feel they incorrectly classify far too many folks.

I am a mixed bag of Mexican, Spanish, Cherokee, Irathaho, English, French and German. The primary two guys I game with are American, one of Czechoslovakian ancestry and the other is of African (not sure which country or tribal group for obvious reasons) ancestry. In America, I believe we have a huge mix of ethnicities, though for some reason we have taken the narrow path for classification.

My old gaming group when I was young was really diverse. Used to play with a Korean guy and a bunch of Americans of varying ethnic backgrounds mostly from the burbs in Washington state.

We're all white in my gaming group. We had four female gamers in the group (one of them my sister), but two got married and two moved away.

The all-white thing shouldn't be surprising, since we have very few members of the other races of humanity here. (Although in my hometown, Split, we do have a number of black people, mostly folks who attended our universities, and stayed here afterwards. Also, in the recent years I've noticed an increasing number of Chinese people about.)

A signifficant number of people here also have mixed ethnic background, which is the result of a couple of centuries of foreign rule, a couple of wars, etc. I myself have Croatian (Dalmatian), German, Austrian, Polish, and Tatar blood, with likely a few other groups thrown in the mix for good measure that I'm not aware of.

I feel the same, which is why I find it odd that my RPG groups tend to be less ethnically diverse than, for example, my classes or workplaces, or local cricket clubs (they are more ethnically diverse than local soccer or Rugby clubs).

Anyway a question for those Non-Europeans amongst us

Do you fit the Gamer stereotype? (ie Intelligent, Nerdy, Like Computers, watch Star Trek reruns, Misunderstood:P)

Me I'd say I'm geeky and I had my IQ tested about 10 yrs ago and scored 173 or something, and like Star Trek too

Hey where I come from even the Horses are famous

A lot of the Horses (and riders) in LOTR came from my home town (which isn't far from Mt Doom) - those same Horses have just got back from shooting "The Last Samurai" - where another cousin was in charge of hiring Extras:D

And you gotta remember that New Zealand has only just (as in this year) reached a Population of 4 million - barely a suburb in some places - so yeah like Hypersmurf said

Everyone knows Peter Jackson - he's a NZ Icon...
