Ray of Enfeeblement versus Undead !?

Undead are immune to death effects (not all necromantic), ability damage to strength, dexterity, and constitution, and anything requiring a fortitude that doesn't affect objects or is harmless. Ray of enfeeblement is none of these as its a no-save strength penalty (not damage) in 3.5. 3.0 however gave a fortitude save to the spell. So...

3.5 Undead are affected by ray of enfeeblement.
3.0 Undead are immune to ray of enfeeblement.

The SRD does not mention negative energy but calls it "A coruscating ray "...
Which just means, that the ray is flashy or glittery... no mention of what type of energy (damage) it is.

I was looking through my MM for 3.0 and 3.5 Editions. In the first one (3.0). it states that undead are "immune to poison,sleep,....., and necromantic effects ." Whereas the 3.5 edition doesn't mention this. Hence I believe that Targos is Right, since Ray of Enfeeblement causes a penalty on strength, not damage.

Yeah, that was my thought as well, that it is not attribute damage (which undead are immune to) and hence would work.

However, it does in some way mimic attribute damage (basically a weaker form of it), and so it might seem a bit weird, that undead would be affected.

Also, what about attribute drain? Is that covered with attribute damage?

Right. Immunity to necromantic effects was removed.
