Black holes are left overs of truly GIANT stars, far as I recall they always have at least 25+ solar masses and are thus pretty damn rare except in areas that had been stellar nurseries etc that gave sufficient material for such short lived heavies to exist?

Rare compared to the number of stars, yup. But this is over the course of the age of the universe, and black holes take a long time to burn out. Astronomers figure there are millions of black holes in our galaxy. Cygnus is the closest one we know of at 1600 ly, but there's likely a couple of closer ones.

Sorry for the derail. Where were we....or right, diamonds! A dead PCs best friend! I'd allow that to be used for a Raise Galaxy spell, but you'd need something bigger for Raise Universe. And don't get me started on the multiverse...someone should make an RPG where the players play as galaxies. I'm a level 14 Elliptical!

You guys are forgetting the laws of economics- you know, supply & demand?

That thing is only valuable intact- break it up into billions of tons of 3ct colorless, flawless brilliant/baguette/trilliant/Asher cut stones, and put them on the market all at once and they'll cost the same as Tic-Tacs.
