Yeah, a parsec is about 3.6 light years, and there's probably around 1 stellar mass black hole per 100 cu ly. Still, they're tough to see when they're not eating...

eh? are you sure of that figure?
Black holes are left overs of truly GIANT stars, far as I recall they always have at least 25+ solar masses and are thus pretty damn rare except in areas that had been stellar nurseries etc that gave sufficient material for such short lived heavies to exist?
