Ring of the Fey Lord (DM:Atanatotatos, Judge:Lord Sessadore)Up:Lorik, etc.

Ironheart obligingly moves closer, stopping just within axe range. He shifts his grip on the axe, which still rests on his shoulder.

Insight; Perception (+2 in wooded feywild) (1d20+0=7, 1d20+2=17)

Ironheart doesn't notice the extra tension, so he's no more suspicious and paranoid than he was - which was "very". He's watching her for any sudden moves, Perception 17 (15 if this no longer counts as "wooded").

I'm stopping 2 squares away, so just within my Reach 2.

She raises a hand up to stop Ironheart from coming any closer, her knowledge of the reach of a halberd is limited so despite the reach of the warden, she doesn't do anything hostile. "Well, I did find a ring, it looks very nice don't you think?" she says, holding up her hand and a plain, iron-looking ring rests on her index finger. "It's mine now, and don't you think I'll be giving it back."

"Yesterday I wouldn't have cared who ended up with the damn thing, as long as my client's safety was assured. Personally, I think that if it was so important to Lord Arnamil, he should have kept it on his finger. But he is holding at least one of my... companions hostage, to be freed when we return his precious ring. So unless you have a better idea as to how to free those hostages, I'm going to ask you, once, to hand it over. Please give me the ring. If you desire compensation, we can negotiate it, but I'm not leaving without that ring."

Rhole approaches with his hands held openly in a forthcoming gesture of peace.

“Mistress of the Mists, we plead you to reconsider.”

“Innocent lives depend on it, but I think you’ll find even more incentive in considering the rightful owner of the ring. Just like your awe-inspiring being, he’s a host of these lands, and any escalation in this issue with his bling could lead him to muster significant forces against you.”

“Luscious lady, surely we can come to some arrangement to your satisfaction. Hell, I’ll even throw in a personal serenade in your honor and perform it as centerpiece for my tour.”

Diplomacy 21

While Rhole delivers his request with soothing words, his tiny partner is busy doing a little reconnaissance. Rock silently and invisibly swoops around the hut, staying his distance considerably to avoid detection. From afar it spies through windows and other openings, looking to see if there are other inhabitants inside, any other entrances/exits, and just getting a reasonable idea of the interior.

[sblock=Positioning]Rhole uses Words of Friendship, and makes sure to approach only so far that Ironheart remains ahead and the group does not end up clustered together (in case of an area attack).[/sblock]

Ikni keeps skanning the surrounding area as her companions discuss matters with the crone.

[sblock=Ikni's thoughts]An old woman... They said she was dangerous, to be feared, but she looks as frail and feeble as great grandmother did before she passed. I hope it does not come to blows...

"I will not be giving up the ring, if Lord Aramil desires his trinket back, he can come to my home himself, if he dares. You would be wise to leave now, threats notwithstanding." she says, taking a step back.

Rock thinks he sees movement inside, but isn't sure of what it is, could be anything, but it wasn't too big

You begin to hear the winds picking up, and on the winds is whispers, hinting at death and torment if you stay here. Try as you might you can't shut them out.

“Hey, those creepy whispers would make an awesome supporting chorus for my shows... Oh, right, focus at the task at hand.”

Rhole backs off, taking note of whether the sinister murmurs disappear and staying beyond their influence if he can.

“My lady, allow us at least to warn you of the consequences for keeping the ring. See, I don’t particularly like this Aramil-dude, either. Has a poor influence on the inhabitants of the forest, and a good host always knows to look out for the fans – I would know! Hell, I don’t get why he would even want the ring back … Not, considering how the keeper inevitably suffers… the Curse!

Baleful moans arise from the ring, as if promising doom upon the woman.

“See, we’re not recovering the ring out of concern for the feelings of this self-proclaimed “lord” - we’re just not interested in its humongous corruptive influence doing more damage than it already has. I mean, have you ever considered why it is Aramil is so incompetent and can’t even keep track of his own jewelry? The ring has degraded his mind, slowly but surely.”

“It’s just like the old gnome legends foretells: Once the ring has found a new keeper the Curse sets in, turning the wielder into a hollow empty shade of its former self. Don’t let this terrible fate overcome you too, my lady. Let us help you.”

The malevolent moans stir up dramatically to illustrate Rhole’s point.

Bluff 30

[sblock=OOC]Rhole uses Ghost Sound.

Also note that Rhole rolled twice on his Bluff check and used the better result, thanks to Glib Limerick ritual. (And hoping the sound effect will make the bluff even more compelling :D)[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC]Nope, wish I had the time to read through other adventures (in addition to many other things on L4W). Similar scenario, I suppose?

I might have been inspired by a few cheesy movies, though. :D[/sblock]
