Ring of Wizardy?

A player is running a wizard/sorcerer (no, I know it's not the greatest idea, but I'm pleased that he's going with character concept rather than core power, so no arguing, 'k? :)) and there's a good chance that he'll be picking up a ring of wizardry sometime soon. Now, the question is - does it doube both wizard & sorcerer spells, or just one? As written, it seems like both, but... seems a tad-bit powerful to me, then. Any ideas?

The ring doubles all arcane slots of the appropriate level, regardless of class. If he were to pick up some bard levels, it would double his bard slots too. (This is listed in the FAQ.)

You're right, it's a very powerful item.

I thought it was too, and you're right, it is. The wierdest thing happened though when I ran a search in the FAQ. I searched for "ring of wizardry" but it found nothing. I just searched for "wizardry" and it jumped right to the relevant passage. That's what I get for using a long search string in a PDF. :)

Thanks - that's what I was leaning towards, but, still - doubling the effects of a magical item can sometimes be just a little unbalancing, so I thought it better to check. And, yeah, you're right about the wiz/sorc being a suboptimal choice - he's not taken (or taking) too many levels of sorcerer, for just that reason.

Never hurts to ask. Glad we could help. :)
