Rogue CA and Thrown Dagger

Well, since you only make 1 damage roll for all those attacks, needing to use different weapons (via quickdraw) does not work for blinding barrage.

Example:
Rogue blinding barrages, and there are 5 targets.
Rogue has 1 magic dagger, 2 mundane daggers, 2 shuriken, and 1 loaded crossbow (in other hand).
Make a single damage roll, please.

This may sound dumb, but in 4e, magically, if an enemy is surrounded by guys with swords, he is somehow better able to pay attention to your thrown dagger than he is to the swords-- i.e. they all get flanking bonuses, and you get jack and squat. Even though common sense would dictate that a person being hacked at by swordsmen would be distracted, ergo less able to defend against a thrown dagger, D&D physics dictates this is not so.

The concept of flanking isn't simply that the enemy is distracted, though - it's that you are deliberately working with your ally to redirect your opponent's attention and create openings for each other. That sort of close co-operation can't happen if one of you is standing twenty feet away lobbing daggers.

My solution to this is that an enemy who is flanked grants CA to all opponents, not only the ones flanking him. The downside to this as a GM is that the PCs will get off more hits, more sneak attacks, etc. The upside is that your MONSTERS will get more use out of special abilities that key off CA...

You honestly think that if you have a scuffle of three or more guys dancing and avoiding blows that it should be easier for you to toss a dagger accurately in that mess?

Never mind the fact you might hit your own guy, but you think that your opponent's just holding still in a situation where he's trying to fend off blows at 180 angles?

The bonus you'd get from his being less aware is canceled by the penalty of him moving around to avoid the blows he -knows- are coming at him.
