Rope Trick ?

First Post
A player of mine (9th level wiz) wants to use Rope Trick to camp for 9 hours without fear of wandering encounters.

There are 8 people in the party, but how much room will they have in the extra dimensional space?

Is it crowded enough to prevent studying spells?

What are the restrictions of this spell, if any?

Thanks in advance

It states up to 8 people should be permitted, "into this place of safety." Beyond that, I'd say that you can be permitted to sleep, eat, study, or whatever else you want to do (within reason) for the duration of the spell.

Granted, there shouldn't be anything in the room besides the 8 people and what they are carrying IMO. But I see no reason why a spellcaster could not study so long as they are not disturbed.

At eight people, they will have to leave the rope hanging down. Make sure they remembered to include familiars and any other miscellaneous creatures that may travel with the group.

I would rule that eight people without a lot of baggage could fit in their. Think of it as a tent for eight. If they each had a backpack and some supplies on a mule and other equipment, some of it would have to be left outside the area.

I would allow them to sleep, eat, and study there. If all eight were in there, it would be a little cramped for combat (circumstance penalty to attack rolls).

What I find curious is that the way the spell is worded, a human mage could create a space big enough for himself, his familiar, and six great wyrms. It does say creatures of any size.

As a ninth level caster, I would be tempted to just cast two. That would allow you to pull the ropes up.
