[RPG] Request for cash

Here's a request:

You have 1300 (principal, spending cash, interest, sale of old equipment).

You're fifth or sixth level.

How would you spend it on new equipment?

I'm getting tired of fighting kobolds and bunnies, and I'm not doing well versus orcs yet. (Saw the skeletons, but I think they're just early experience-makers?) So I need to get that money out of my bank and into equipment. Sixty gold a day in interest isn't much good when I'm spending twice that amount on healing potions from trying to take on orcs...

So, I should keep my current, weak stuff (staff and leather armor), and go for one mega-item (mega being relative to my level, of course :) )?

Is it better to have one great item, or several okay items? For instance, I was thinking to get a longsword (250, +10 str), chainmail (250, +50 def), shortsword (100, +5 str, +5 def), iron greaves (50, +2 str, +3 def), and a pony (500, +25 str, +25 def). That comes to 1150, for a total of +42 str and +83 def.

Of course, with my way of buying stuff, I'd have to trade it all in within a few levels, thus losing 2/3 (round up) of my investment, right?

Whereas, the way you have it, that suped-up item would be good for at least ten levels, yes? And I could save the money from not upgrading every couple of levels to buy other stuff?

Knuckledusters (5) = +2 str
Bearskin cloak (5) = +2 def
Iron greaves (50) = +2 str, +3 def

Devil's might (enchantment, 1200) = +30 str, +25 def
Angel's might (enchantment, 1200) = +25 str, +30 def
Devil's guile (enchantment, 1200) = +25 MP, +30 str (but MP only seems to affect what spells you can cast, not how many?)
Angel's honor (enchantment, 1200) = +25 MP, +30 def

I'm tempted to go the whole Angel route, simply because I'm at least purportedly "good." (Though never you mind how many times I've slaughtered that fluffy, cute, pink bunny...)

Who is Jez? Several times, I've seen this character in fights with the Fluffy Bunny, and nothing is happening after several minutes. It's like they started the fight, then wandered off, leaving the bot frozen in battle. :(

I wonder who's going to be the first person to lose to the bunny, and how they'll be able to show their face in public again? :)

@BK:

I'd loan you some money, but after several bouts with the orc, all my free funds went towards healing. I mean, shoot, I'm finally level five, and the orc can still kick my tuckus... (Of course, if I actually got some of that money out of the bank--thanks to Ao the Overkitty and Crothian, as well as a lot of time collecting money from posts, interest, and salary, I have 1200 in the bank.) I'm going to have to buy some better equipment tonight, after interest hits. Leather armor and a staff just doesn't cut it against orcs and such.

What I want to know is, I saw one item selling for 100,000. And someone had bought it! Who made that much money in such a short little time?!?!
Eh just an old sword or whatever is fine.
Someone gave me chainmail a few days ago. i have like 300 saved, but the orc really blasted me earlier.

I'd recommend buying the best equipment you can as quickly as you can, then enchant whenever possible. You lose a lot of money on the intermediate equipment.

We do.... kind of. They're called healing potions. The difference is we can effectively drink any potion we have on hand in the middle of a battle as a free action. The monsters have to spend their turn healing.

Still, it is rather naughty of them to heal those nice wounds we just gave them, isn't it? ;)

Well, spent a day building up my ready cash to over 400gp.

Then I saw someone losing to a kobold, and sent them 100gp and a long sword (and a short sword, as soon as they hit level 1)...

Oh well. :)
