Just curious where the term came from. Why is it called a Saving Throw? I guess the saving part makes sense enough, but the throw part is kind of throwing me for a loop.
But why is every other instance of Generating a Random number by throwing brightly colored polyhdral shapes refered to as rolling? Whats Different? You Dont Throw up a Character, You Roll Up a character.
I don't know. It's a holdover from wargaming AFAIK, but why wargaming has it?
Possibly because after making attack rolls, the attacker gives the dice to his opponent, who "throws" them back to make the save (ie rolling them so they land next to the attacking player, so he can roll attacks for the next unit).
