Scroll Bandolier

One of my players asked if he could buy a scroll bandolier that let's him draw a scroll as a free action. I'm pretty sure that there is such an item, but I can't remember which book it's in. Could someone refresh my memory?

Tell him sure: charge him an amount suitable for a normal nonmagical article of clothing (a few silver at most) And then say that the seamstress / tanner will need a day or two to make one for him. oh, and he'll be needing a sample scroll to get a feel for the size...

Frankly, my players always come to me with all manner of I want this special clothing item that lets me do this"... and, keeping with the flavor of D&D, A well prepared adventurer is a surviving adventurer, it makes them feel satisfied if they create a new piece of equipment.

Among other things I've had:
-A wizard who tattooed select spells on private areas of her body, so she would never be completely deprived of her spell book.
-A thief with two ten-foot poles and a special screw-together attachment so they could be used to probe 20' ahead.
-several potion belts (shortly after diablo came out though, so it's not necessarily original)

And probably more "i've got a special idea" than you can shake a stick at.

I think it is in the FR main book...

And hand him a blank piece of rolled up parchment. Of course adventurers do that. Adventuring is what they do for a living. (Or dieing!) Why wouldn't you let them do that sort of thing? It's exactly the sort of thing they should be thinking of if they have any brains at all. (And I'm talking about the characters here.)

I'm fairly sure that the FRCS bandolier is for potions, but I think I saw something similar for scrolls in Mongoose's Ultimate Equipment Guide.

If you don't have either of those, Agent Oracle's idea seems reasonable to me.
 

Except it shouldn't be a free action unless he has Quick Draw. There's no way the scroll bandolier is better than a dagger sheath, and drawing a dagger is a Move action unless you have Quick Draw. But that certainly makes the feat more worthwhile.
 

I would allow the free action to pull the scroll, but I wouldn't allow the player to differentiate between the scrolls on the bandolier. The action is simply too quick. Either all the scrolls on the bandolier are the same, or you randomly pull one of however many you carry. Most players in our group have bandoliers filled with with the same type of scroll.

Potion bandoliers are also allowed in our group. Same rules apply. Weasling one's way around what is already a good thing isn't allowed.
 

I concur with the last two posts - it is a move equivalent action to draw from a bandolier - however, if all of the items are the same type I would allow for a "rush" on the action. However I would include a small DC save vs Dex (say 10 or so) to drop the item being drawn.
Quick Draw negates the need for such a roll and should be the RAW you point your players towards though.
 

It wouldn't make it any fast than a move action, but I think it would allow you to use Quick Draw, and would end the "rooting around for that scroll" problem. A similar option would be to keep them in cases hanging from your belt.
