Sneak attack vs Uncanny Dodge

Scenario:

One of the characters in my group is a Fighter 10 / Purple Dragon High Knight 4 (from Dragon Annual). One of the Knights class feats is the uncanny dodge ability. At 3rd level, he can't be flanked. A rogue with 4 levels higher can of course still flank him.

The big bad guy in this campaign is an evil Shade Rogue 8 / Assasin 8 / Fighter 2 (he's mean!!).

The problem has not come up yet, but I think it is best to be prepared. When the character reaches 15th level, he is only 3 levels behind the bad guy, and hence, cannot be flanked. Right?

What I really want to know is, regarding flanking, is the bad guy a 16th level "flanker"? SInce the 2 fighter levels does not confer any sneak ability? And is the character only a 5 level "dodger" since his 10 levels from the fighter class does not confer any uncanny dodge bonuses? Or is it the total character level which applies in both cases?

I guess I can find this out in the PHB, but I am bored at work right now and wanted to start a new thread...

Generally, unless a class feature specifies "character level", then only the level in that class applies.

So a rogue four levels higher than his Knight class level can flank him.

The Fighter levels certainly don't count towards the ability to flank someone with Uncanny Dodge. By a strict reading of the rules, neither do the Assassin levels, as far as I can tell, but it makes sense to allow it, I think, since the Assassin gets both Seak Attack and Uncanny Dodge as class features. But other might disagree.

I'm very much inclined to say it would be the Knight levels against the Rogue/Assassin levels. Rogue is the base for flanking at times like that and Assassin plays to the same strengths. YMMV of course.

I saw no ruling on this but AFAIC all PRclass that provide sneak attack capabilities should stack with rogue levels for purpose of determining if it can overcome UC.

You only stack the levels of classes that has the ability.

So you can be flanked by two at least 8th level rogues.

The bad guy is considered a 16th level rogue.

So the bad guy has the ability to flank you, however he still need another rogue of at least 8th level (or considered to be an 8th level rogue) on the opposite side of you to actually flank you.
