It wasn't made for you. It was made for those people who don't like to "work" when playing a PC and just want a very simple character to play. I've had several players over the years choose basic fighters and refuse to play any sort of spellcaster, because options were too much work and they played to relax.
The problem is that

  • The lazy player's warrior
  • The wargamers warrior
  • The new player's warrior
  • The roleplayer's warrior
  • The manager's warrior
  • The veteran's warrior
are all the same class.

D&D has spellcasters of different levels of complexity and combat/noncombat balance. But we forgot the real world doesn't have magic and everyone in the real world isn't sorted into All Combat Guys or Sneaky Backstabbers.

They may all be the same class(I don't agree, because I view Paladins and Rangers as warriors), but they are not all the same subclass. Having the Champion is not a problem. That's the subclass for the Lazy/new player.

Already exisits.

Eldritch knight gets to add intelligence to damage with Green Flame blade cantrip and can get expertise through either the prodigy or the skill expert feats.

That's magic, buddy.

I want a warrior who adds Intelligence to damage by analyzing the enemy's attack patterns and weaknesses.

Contrary to popular belief, real warriors can utilize smarts, perception, and heart in combat.

All of these things do not even need to be different builds and for those that need to be subclasses exist (and if subclass for specific need doesn't exist, it can be made.)

The problem is the subclass for wargamers and the subclass for roleplayers are bound to the same simple chassis as the subclass for lazy players and the subclass for new players.

Hiya!

This isn't a problem with the "class"...it's a problem with the mindset of the player.

With this statement, it's making the assumption that the person designing the Battlemaster class thought "Ok, now first, he has to SUCK at fighting. Totally useless, or at least as far as fighting goes. Then I can make something so limited that the player would only be able to have actual fun for a couple of rounds, then go back to sucking".
It went more like

"Well, I'd like to make a fighter that does actual interesting things in combat, but the playtesters ruined everything end killed proper superiority dice. Guess I can do the bare minimum of with the smoldering corpse of a previously fun class".

Also people keep insisting that new players can't handle anything more complex than insert tab A (labeled 'Sword') into Slot B (labeled Bag of HP) so they encouraged that by making it a thing. Other games manage to make all their starting builds fun and interesting without this garbage.
