Spiked Gauntlets

Gauntlets allow a character to do lethal damage with unarmed strikes. An attack with a spiked gauntlet is an armed attack. Does this mean that Weapon Focus (unarmed strike) would apply to an attack with a gauntlet, but not a spiked gauntlet? Or is it just that a character attacking with a spiked gauntlet wouldn't incur attacks of opportunity?

i'd wager it's the latter. afterall, a monk is always armed without a weapon, and WF (US) is a perfectly legit feat selection. i think the name of the feat is a slight misnomer, is all. anyway, that's my 2cp.

Both. You don't use your unarmed damage when attacking with a gauntlet, you use the gauntlet's damage (so no more 20th-level Monks wearing +5 Flaming Gauntlets), Weapon Focus (Gauntlet) is needed rather than Weapon Focus (Unarmed Strike), and someone without Improved Unarmed Strike doesn't provoke attacks of opportunity when attacking with a gauntlet.

If a character has Weapon Focus (Unarmed Strike), does he receive the +1 to his attack rolls when wearing a spiked gauntlet?

If the character is a fighter with Weapon Specialization (Unarmed Strike), can he apply the damage bonus if wearing spiked gauntlets?

Nope and nope. Reason: See above. Unarmed Strike is a different "weapon" than wearing a gauntlet.

Thank you, I suspected as much, but my common sense was objecting a bit.
Know that. My common sense usually objects when I think about fighting with two weapons and Weapon Focus... it's the same problem.
