Star Wars Iconic Characters: Interlude...

In order to help keep the game moving, I'm going to metagame for a moment, presuming character knowledge that I probably shouldn't have.

Upon seeing the Jedi and Wookiee expelled from the bar for the second time, Arani mentally adds Sia-Lan to the list of "people who aren't allowed to interact with the public any more."

Speaking quietly but forcefully, she'll organize her friends.

"Kelko - I want you to return to the ship, and prepare it for takeoff. Dorn, please contact the station authorities and obtain permission to disembark. Everyone else, back to the ship. I think we've officially worn out our welcome, and we should leave the second everyone's on board."

Calmly, Arani pays the bill for everyone's meal, then finds Rorworr and Sia-lan.

"Rory, we're going. Now. Drag her if you have to."

Very bossy, but I suppouse she knows what she is dong here. This is more her home then mine after all. Valara rises and trails dutifully after Arani like a puppy, dragging Set along with her until and unless he starts following of his own free will.

"We are going to Coruscant now?" she asks Arani after she issues her orders to Rory.

Arani shakes her head. "The Tapani Sector, first. It's closer, and since I have connections there it will give us a safe place to rest and consolidate our forces." And discover what sort of Defel's bargain Deel signed us up for, Arani thinks.

"Don't worry, though. One of the local Houses maintains very close ties to the Jedi. I promise you, one way or another, you will get your chance to meet with the Jedi."

"Sure you can. You survived a wound that would have killed any of us. You managed to shoot a partially submerged river snake, while it was grappling with me, incidentally saving my life in the process. And you've inspired such loyalty in a member of Naboo nobility that she not only spent ages in a fetid stinking jungle watching over you despite the risk to life, limb, and a brand new pair of boots, she also organized a party in your honor because she noticed you were feeling a bit superfluous."

Arani leans in closer to Kelko. "You're very important to this group. You're important to me. A million extra mechanics wouldn't change that."

Arani stands up. "Now what can I get for you? Cheeseburger? Pipso? Chips?"

Despite himself, the cranky Rodian mechanic visibly preens. "Well, you know that I wasn't really didn't know what I was doing back then... if I had, I probably would've hit you rather than the snake." He stands quickly, pitch black eyes seeming impossibly large. "But don't think I'm not grateful that you watched over me when I was wounded or nothing... I didn't think well of the whole nobility thing until I met you."

After making his backhanded compliment, the Rodian has Arani order him some chip and Pipso. Though Kelko's seen better fare, chip is the best he's had in what seems like a long while. As a steaming plate is brought out to him, he licks his snout in anticipation. The smell wafting back to him is mouth-watering. He's about to take his first bite when Arani turns all imperious.

"Kelko - I want you to return to the ship, and prepare it for takeoff."

Sighing and looking at the uneaten chip on the end of his fork, Kelko pushes himself up from the counter. "Figures. It never fails," he mutters. Strangely, the notion of taking the food with him never occurs to him. "It'll be ready by the time you get there," he calls over his shoulder as he heads for the ship at a brisk stride.

"I'll go with you." Rorworr calls after Kelko. "Never hurts to have an extra pair of hands around."

Never one to miss a meal, Rorworr does pause to take his food with him, emptying his plate into a paper bag. Snack in hand, the Wookie heads off the Pathfinder, munching on chips as he goes.

Sia-Lan grinned at Arani. "Hey now! Look at that assertiveness come rushing out!" She makes a little whip motion complete with sound effects. "No problem! I'm ready to head out anyway...race you to the ship!"

Gathering everything together in a sack full of chips, burgers and a take-away pipso cup with a squiggly straw...the young Jedi ran after Kelko. "Hey wait!" She stuffed the greasy bag into his hands as she gave him an affectionate squeeze.

"Drive by Jedi!" she yells with a cheerful laugh and then heads off in a sprint toward the ship, singing to herself and doing a couple of dance moves she saw on one of Set's vids on her way there.

Set unregretfully lays down his meal, brushes his hands and get's up heading for the door. There he stands for momment, hesitant on the threshold, to look back at Valara. Set shakes his head to clear his thoughts then hunches his shoulders as he exit's the dinner to head back to the ship.

Kaz paused mid-chew at Arani's declaration.

"Bu' wu hamfm evm fi'ish eein ye'!"

Seeing everyone hop-to and start collecting food, he'll proceed to scarf down his chips by the fistfull in a vain attempt to carry as little as possible. But if they're gonna be space running for the next week or so, he's gonna have some cheeseburgers stored away for those long sunless days.

"An' wu didn git in any fights! Awwww!"

He'll scoop up cheeseburgers in his arms, even half-eaten ones, and head out when Arani does.

Valara gives one last Glance back at Arani before jogging to cathch up to Set and Sia-lan. She marvels at Sia's dancing, wondering if she was going to learn it at the Jedi temple as well. Maybe they don't really teach it there, and its all Sia, I can't see Set dancing. She thinks with a smirk at the arrogant Jedi teen. She

She matches her stride to his as she watches the others shuffle by in various states of snacking capacity. "I hope someone remembered to bring food for Zheev," she says trying to make conversation.
