Sigh. They should have left the two halves of this character at the bottom of the pit. It's a big galaxy, go explore something new.

Oh well, to each their own.
I would normally agree with you, but Clone Wars proved that Maul is MUCH more interesting alive than dead. The fact they wasted that character as they did in The Phantom Menace is just another mark against Lucas as a writer and director.

We can all excoriate Lucas for wasting interesting characters -- I've a long simmering resentment for what he did to Boba Fett in RotJ. But I'd rather move on than attempt rehabilitation; better to have a clean break from Lucas' poor choices. To me, bringing Maul back in the Clone Wars series was as cringe as "somehow, the Emperor returned."

Except the Maul stuff in CW was among the best of that series.

I felt that way when Maul first returned.

But damn, after coming back from being chopped in half, his character arc has been amazing. I'm a huge fan of the character post-split.

Yeah, I’d have to agree. It was a stupid idea to bring him back that way but he’s been an amazing character since.

And honestly I’m not sure how he survived. Was his hate so strong he survived bisection? Did Sidious shove him in a bacta tank before his sell by date? No idea .

Nothing makes any sense in Star Wars. I don't see how it matters.

I prefer continuity generally speaking, if there's a good idea to be had. Bringing back Maul worked as far as I'm concerned
